We were lucky to catch up with Kia Deja recently and have shared our conversation below.
Kia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
After our events, we frequently donate a percentage of our proceeds to local charities and non-profit organizations. This is also a way we show appreciation and support to the community.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
The Golden Goddess candle brand was founded in 2021 and became an LLC in 2023. We moved the business from Central Florida all the way to the Pacific Northwest in 2024. Since operating in the PNW, The Golden Goddess has serviced the community by participating in events, volunteering, and creating partnerships with local businesses. Our unique line of organic aromatic products features luxury soy-based and clean-burning candle collections that dual as art and healing aromatherapy. As you light each candle, we encourage you to set your intentions! Our mission is to continue practicing sustainability by maintaining clean-burning, soy-based herbal aromatic products. We pride ourselves on avoiding the use of toxins and harsh chemicals in our products, while using sustainable ingredients, natural herbs, and biodegradable adornments.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
When we participate in monthly events and pop-up shops, we meet and build relationships with our clients face-to-face. Working events for renowned brands like Nordstrom and high-end Pacific Northwestern hotels have amplified our brand awareness in the region. We’ve had so much fun engaging with our audience and loyal customers, getting them excited about new store drops, wellness content, and upcoming events.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
We keep in touch with clients at monthly events, which gives us opportunities to showcase new products, tell the story behind the business, and network with other local entrepreneurs, fostering a stronger community. We also keep in touch with clients on social media—whether it’s sharing and reposting content, answering DMs, or replying to comments, we are constantly online! We enjoy sending newsletters with segments carefully curated for our subscribers. We also go live on Instagram, taking our audience behind the scenes of how we make and package the product. Our clients, customers, and peers are always in the loop!
