We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful LaTashia Mitchell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with LaTashia below.
LaTashia, appreciate you joining us today. Folks often look at a successful business and imagine it was an overnight success, but from what we’ve seen this is often far from the truth. We’d love to hear your scaling up story – walk us through how you grew over time – what were some of the big things you had to do to grow and what was that scaling up journey like?
I was able to scale up my business by creating a hair product line called Something Natural Hair! During the pandemic I had to temporarily close my business during that time and it forced me to become even more creative to help support my family. I started to research a chemist, Ingredients, manufactures, label companies and other sources I needed to complete the product line. Finally I was able to create Something Natural Hair Care which I created to help support my clients in need of hair care products, when all salons and most stores were closed or sold out of the products they needed. I was able to service them with organic and vegan friendly hair care products that were healthy for their hair. As a salon owner I was also able to create a source of income that would help support me if something similar were to happen again. Creating Something Natural Hair Care was one of the best business decisions I have made. We have been able to reach people looking for healthy hair care and inspire people who are interested in doing the same.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

We are learning and growing everyday and open to work with new people. Come by and visit us at Something Natural Hair Salon and pick up some products while your here!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
There was a time while in my career when I was going through life challenges and I had to take a break and my career for my mental health. I started going to the yoga studio 3 times a day to relax my mind. I went so much that they invited me to get my Yoga Teacher Certification. This was one of the best things I did for myself that I still practice today! When life throws you lemons make lemonade!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Quality and service helped me to build my reputation! Listening to clients having great customer service and being consistent in what you do will lead you to great clientele and great reviews. Be authentic and be yourself, study your craft and the market will come to you.
