Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Iggy Aspen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Iggy, appreciate you joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I had started playing piano when I was 12 and immediately fell in love with it. I devoted so much of my time to the piano and knew within the first couple months that I wanted to play music for the rest of my life.
When I was that young, however, I expected to find myself in an orchestra performing professionally in the future. While that still may be a goal of mine eventually, I have shifted paths. A month or so before I turned 18 I began producing, it was then I realized I wanted to help artists achieve their musical visions through my production, as well as performing on my own.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I surrounded myself with music since age 12. Diving into classical genres on the piano, it was my first instrument, and my introduction to performing music. At 14 I taught myself the drums, I was inspired heavily by drum corps.
Throughout high school, I was in a number of performing ensembles. Gaining experience in jazz, reggae, rock, and even some theatre scores.
In tenth grade I began writing the front ensemble and drumline scores for my school’s marching band. I found that the more I challenged myself, the more I grew as a musician, and as a person.
Ages 12-18 prepared me for music production, and working with other artists. With my prior knowledge in the performing arts, and music theory; I found that music production came naturally to me.
The first year after I turned 18 was spent on defining my sound, and refining my skills as a music producer. I spent some time taking online classes through Berklee College of Music. However, school couldn’t hold my attention, I always found myself focused on my own projects.
My first collaboration was with BlackScars, a recording artist from Denver. Together we made the song “Ecstasy”.
When working with other artists, I love to really understand their vision for a project, and to help with all aspects. Including the production, lyrics, setting, story, visual portrayal of the project.
With my background in being a classically trained musician, and playing a variety of instruments including piano, drums, guitar, and several percussion instruments; along with the digital side of music production, with enough time, effort, and love; i can craft a record with an artist that resonates not just within themselves, but within others too.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Since I started producing music, I made it a goal to do something creative every day. My first year was the hardest, battling addiction, and being forced to live out of my car for a little while. I found that music allowed me to stay grounded, and to remain hopeful even when times got hard.
I would go to a coffee shop after work and make beats. I didn’t let my situation discourage me, as I felt that if I could stay focused on my goals even when it felt impossible, that I would surely reach them one day.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
All I truly want is to inspire others.
To inspire others to be themselves, and to reconnect with their inner child, their creative side.
Many people have told me “I wish I was creative, but I just don’t have it in me.”
I truly believe that everyone is creative. That part of yourself is not lost, but buried.
I found that my creativity opened doors to a deeper understanding of myself.
Music saved my life. All I want is to help others take the steps necessary to live for themselves! Be creative! Dismantle your limiting beliefs and understand that you can be anything that you want to be.
