We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Kobi Reese. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Kobi below.
Kobi, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents have been my strongest supporters on my musical journey. After years of begging my parents to buy me a drum kit, for my seventh birthday, they finally gave in. From that moment on, music became the center of my life. My parents noticed that I immediately excelled at music and when I told them that I wanted to follow my dream of becoming a rock star and do this for the rest of my life, they made the decision to support my dream in every way that they possibly can. My mom quit her full time job to dedicate herself to managing my music career and my band. My parents have invested every penny they have to move my music career along as quickly as possible to help make my dream come true. The three of us work together as a team and my parents do all they can to support me every step of the way.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
From the time that I was a young child, I have had a passion for music. I learned to play the drums at the age of seven, started singing at the age of nine and began writing my own original music at the age of eleven. I started my first band when I was ten years old and through the years it has evolved into KOBI REESE, the dynamic, power rock band that it is today. Although we are just teenagers, we bring an explosive, high energy performance to every show and make every show a memorable experience for our fans. We tour throughout the country and also toured in Germany last fall supporting a popular German rock band, Bonfire. It was an experience that I will never forget. This year, we also released our debut album, BREAKING GROUND which can be listened to on all music streaming platforms.
Along with writing music and developing my own band, I enjoy performing with other famous bands and musicians throughout the country. I performed on the Monsters of Rock Cruise with many incredible musicians including Sebastian Bach and Todd Kerns. I have also performed with Gene Simmons, Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick from KISS, the Appice brothers, the Bret Michaels Band, the Ace Frehley Band, Stephen Adler, Corey Glover of Living Colour and many more.
It is my dream to carry rock and roll into the future and to share my music throughout the world.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
There are so many parts of my life that have been rewarding but nothing can top the feeling I get when I step out onto the stage in a huge sold out theater and see hundreds of fans singing along with us and jumping and dancing to our original music. There is no better feeling in the entire world. The energy that the audience gives me is given directly back to them from the stage and it makes the moment feel incredible. Many people ask if I ever get nervous before a performance but I never do. I am always just bursting with excitement before I hit the stage each and every time. I feel like I was born to be on the stage.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of my greatest obstacles during my music career has been finding band members with my same, drive, passion and dedication that I have. To me and the majority of my band members, this is our future, not just a hobby. Throughout the last five years, I have had many band members come and go for various reasons such as work obligations, college, family situations, lack of dedication to the band and a few just used our band to take advantage of our hard work and the connections that we have made throughout our journey. No matter how many changes we have had to make in the band, we have not missed a beat and continue to move forward every day. We have been fortunate to find substitute musicians who help us during these transition periods until we find the perfect replacement. Most musicians know that this is the most difficult part of keeping a working band going. Our band members are like a family. We work together as a team to make our band the best that it can be. When someone makes the decision to leave the band, I look at it like a little bump in the road. It is frustrating but we do not want anyone on this journey with us that truly does not want to be here.
