We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Kimberly Powell a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Kimberly thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
PowerHaus by KP was born out of both my experience and my evolution. After spending nine years as an event curator, I realized I wasn’t just creating beautiful events I was creating spaces where people felt seen, celebrated, and empowered. But behind the scenes, I also went through a personal journey that required me to rebuild my confidence, rediscover my voice, and reclaim my power.
I wanted to create something bigger than decor. I wanted a space where women and entrepreneurs could grow, connect, and transform not just professionally, but personally. PowerHaus by KP became that vision: a hub for empowerment, creativity, and purpose-driven experiences.
It’s more than a brand it’s a reflection of my journey and a safe place for others to step into theirs.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Kimberly Powell, founder of PowerHaus by KP, a retired event curator with nine years of experience in the event decor industry, a conference host, author, and co-host of The Morning Tea radio show. I’m also a proud mother of one son, twin daughters, and a grandmother roles that have shaped my strength, resilience, and purpose.
I got into the event industry because I’ve always had a passion for creating beautiful, meaningful experiences. What started as decorating quickly evolved into something deeper. I realized I wasn’t just styling events I was helping people celebrate life’s most important moments and creating environments where they felt valued, confident, and seen.
Through PowerHaus by KP, I now offer more than decor. I curate purpose-driven experiences, host women’s empowerment conferences, provide mentorship for aspiring entrepreneurs, and create spaces for connection, growth, and transformation. My work is rooted in helping people move from simply having ideas to actually executing them with confidence and excellence.
What sets me apart is my story and my heart. I’ve experienced life in a way that taught me how to rebuild, how to lead, and how to pour into others authentically. I don’t just teach or create from theory I do it from lived experience. That allows me to connect with my audience in a real and impactful way.
I’m most proud of my ability to turn pain into purpose and create platforms that empower others to do the same. Whether it’s through an event, a conference, or a conversation, my goal is always to leave people better than I found them.
What I want people to know about me and my brand is this: PowerHaus by KP is more than a business it’s a movement. It’s a place where purpose is ignited, confidence is built, and people are reminded of their worth. Everything I create is intentional, impactful, and designed to help others step fully into who they are meant to be.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
One of the most effective ways to grow your clientele is by building genuine relationships and
delivering an experience that people can’t stop talking about. For me, word-of-mouth has been
one of the most powerful tools when you consistently exceed expectations, your clients naturally
become your biggest promoters.
I’ve also found that showing up consistently, whether through social media, events, or
community involvement, keeps your brand visible and trusted. People don’t just buy services
they invest in people they connect with.
What’s been most effective for me is combining excellent customer service with intentional
branding. Every interaction, from the first inquiry to the final delivery, is an opportunity to create
a lasting impression. When you focus on serving people well, the growth of your clientele
becomes a natural result.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One of the greatest stories of resilience from my journey is learning how to rebuild while still
healing. There was a time in my life when I was navigating the emotional weight of a toxic
marriage, yet I still had to show up for my children, for my clients, and eventually, for myself.
I didn’t have the luxury of pausing life to heal. Instead, I had to find strength in the middle of the
storm. There were moments when fear, self-doubt, and uncertainty tried to take over, but I made
a decision that my story would not end there.
That journey wasn’t easy, but it taught me that resilience isn’t about having it all together, it’s
about continuing to move forward, even when everything in you wants to give up.
Today, I stand as a testament that you can turn your pain into purpose. What once tried to break
me became the very foundation of the life and impact I now have.
