We were lucky to catch up with Matthew Miramontes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Matthew, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?
Lately, it’s good to be a believer in timing and patience to understand what angle works best for each person. I’ve known people who can hash out a project in a week and others where it takes months to a year. The point is to always be learning and really make something that doesn’t feel forced or rushed to the point where it hits a deadline. A delayed project can eventually be good; a rushed project will always be bad.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I make sounds with laptops and instruments similar to if Brian Eno had an effects pedal tied to his synthesizers. I just recently released a record last Christmas (December 2025) and am currently planning on releasing another record this June.
While I took about a two-year hiatus on making music and being involved in a creative field, that break gave me some space to learn and hone in on being more experimental with using new instruments and sounds to create where I am now. Again, time is a factor in creativity for most. I wanted to create something that wasn’t limited by its release date and still felt fresh and unique, reflecting my personal perspective.
Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
Those are still a thing?

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
To not take everything so seriously and remember why getting started in a creative field matters so much. Daily life can be a hellscape to navigate, and having that outlet is important. Whether music or knitting, it all boils down to some extension of human ingenuity. Don’t nitpick yourself to death for just wanting to live and learn.
