We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Uma Strong a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Uma , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I think that I knew I wanted to be an artist when I grew up by the time I had conscious awareness.
You know, I popped out of the womb, pretty much singing and dancing. My parents used to film my sister and I putting on ornate costumes and making full on plays, starting at age three. When I was eight, my parents took me to the seven fingers circus performance, which is an offshoot of circ de Soleil, A famous group of incredibly talented and amazing acrobatic artists. When I saw what these people were doing, I knew that I wanted to do that too. I knew I wanted to be a performing artist and I knew that I wanted to be able to do anything I wanted with my body- flying and acrobatics. I was already taking art classes and was excelling incredibly. Singing, dancing, drawing, and painting have always come naturally to me ever since I was a little girl. I’ve taken years of training in these subjects. The first time I tried singing, dancing, drawing and painting, I was hooked. And the more I did it, the more classes I took, the more the passion grew. My innate talent only made me enjoy art more. It’s obviously what I was meant to do, And it runs through every fiber of my being. I love art because it helps me to express all of the beauty, joy, emotion, and understandings, that I cannot describe with words. To me, words are also part of my art, but I truly love how the music carries the feeling to the audience. I love how the color conveys a message and deep meaning with every stroke of paint. It reminds us that communication is so much more than words, and that it is largely a feeling and a thought. Good art inspires us to create more good art. Beauty inspires us to create more beauty. The message I’ve always wanted to bring is the message of heavenly and an angelic level of beauty, light, and love. The message that True Beauty exists, and that it is right here in everything and in all of us. People want beauty so bad that they are willing to hurt themselves. Art reminds me that beauty is everywhere and therefore also within everyone. It reminds us that beauty takes many forms. I have always loved to play with them many forms of beauty that I can create myself myself through my body through my hands through my pen through my lyrics, through the sound of bells. I love that my job as an artist is to create more beauty into the world, using the beauty that exists all around us. When I was young, I would get my creative inspiration from nature. Nature is gods art, and it is the most glorious and the most beautiful. The essence of nature is the essence of the beauty I seek to bring into the world through my art. And I have always known this because it is intrinsic within my being.

Uma Strong has over a decade of experience in the healing arts and got her massage certification from the Pacific Center for Awareness and Bodywork in 2012. It was there in Hawaii where she studied many healing modalities, specializing in somatics and sound healing. Ever since I was a kid, I was creating events. I would create my own themed birthday parties and draw and paint all the decorations myself, create themed games, and even create gorgeous food and drink. Now that I am an adult, I’ve learned to create a healthy lifestyle that allows me to continue to keep my child-like wonder, joy, excitement, and fun alive.
Picture this: you walk through the gardens on your way to the event space. Everything is color, beauty, flow, the fresh air is filled with floral fragrances. Her voice is beautiful, soothing, and has a full range. Her set is beautiful original songs of which she has at least 10 albums worth. Written over the years on her travels to Hawaii, the west coast, and all over the US, the lyrics are clever, inspirational, meaningful, and deep. She breaks out into a passionate dance and with her years of training, and the audience goes crazy. Everyone’s dancing too and just having a great time.
The gallery of paintings are well-done, mystical scenes of nature and magic.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
I’m here to have fun and show others you can have Grace through anything. I have been through some of the hardest things imaginable in life, including sexual assault, death, homelessness, evil, parents, and more. I’ve risen from the ashes, and I’m still shining as an example of what is possible. I am living proof that you can overcome anything and still be successful and radiate purity and beauty, allowing hardship to make you stronger and better.
I’m here to create as much beauty as possible. I am here to inspire others to see truly divine beauty, and feel heavenly bliss. I’m here to create art that reminds one of heavenly energies, angelic energies, magic, miracles, The infinite possibilities of the universe. The child like wonder of the moment. Nature. I believe in love, light, goodness, righteousness, beauty, joy. I believe all of these things are one, and that good art reminds you of this heavenly energy, she’s also the essence of the natural world.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think that the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is that ultimately we are the ones that lead the new way. There is obviously an old society and structure that is not working and is built on death and causes destruction. A small amount of people have most of the resources and the rest of us are left to struggle. Many of us have watched in unfunded, silent horror as the ones in charge take down the world and cause mass pain and suffering.
When I create, I bring through a truth of heaven on earth- a whole new reality. A whole new way of being. A better world filled with Beauty and Good.
Artists and creatives are the ones that think of better ways to do things, and build the new structures, both physical and mental, that actually work towards harmony. peace, and plenty for all- A better world. The renaissance is creative thinking, that is what changes worlds. I am honored and proud to be gifted with incredible talent in the creative realm, and to be part of the creation of a whole New World based on True Goodness and Love.
