Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mad Tasty. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mad , appreciate you joining us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My mother always uplifted me and my siblings growing up. She always gave us room to create. She supported us and our interests/dreams. My mother always let us know that if we believe then we can achieve in all aspects of life. This has impacted my journey tremendously because the energy you put into something to love doing will always flow back.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My Name is Yusef AKA Guap Sef/Mad Tasty. I am a 16 Year old Artist and Content Creator from the Lower east side of manhattan. I make and study music as well beat-making. I run a food Enthusiast account on all platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube). I started making food content with my twin brother @grittygrubnyc last may. We have a joint page in the works called (mad gritty, mad tasty+ gritty grub) for twin content.
We started out making content just for fun & laughs but we soon saw that this can evolve into something much greater. We work with local & small businesses in the NYC area. This provides exposure for the business as well as our pages. I am most proud of the experience’s and people I’ve met through social media and food. I encourage my viewers to get out of their comfort box and try different cuisines and experience different places.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
One thing people outside the creative field don’t always get is the amount of trial and error that actually goes into it. There’s a lot of content out there that looks like it’s been effortless, but the reality is, the creator has probably been trying a bunch of different ideas and approaches until something works.
There’s also a lot of patience involved. It’s not always immediate, and sometimes the only way to improve and grow is to keep creating, even if something doesn’t do as well as you want it to. For me, the most important thing I’ve learned is to just enjoy the process of creating, rather than the end results.
creativity isn’t about being perfect the first time; it’s about being present and trying new things, and improving slowly but surely.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building the audience for Mad Tasty has been about sharing the food that I’m actually enthusiastic about and trying to create content that makes people stop scrolling. I’ve also focused on making the dishes look fun and appealing and the experience around the food.
A lot of it has also been about experimenting with different types of posts and seeing what resonates well with the audience. Over time, you do start to see what works and what doesn’t.
If I had to give advice to someone new to this, I think the most important thing is to be authentic, post consistently, and not overthink it. Share something you genuinely enjoy, and over time, you’ll figure out what resonates well with your audience.
