We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Luque. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Sarah, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later?
Yes! Starting my balloon design business was the best decision I’ve made for myself! Even after a couple years, I still love it!
I started my business after having my kids. I had ordered balloon garlands from other designers for birthday parties and baby showers, and I thought “I want to teach myself how to do that!” I had recently gone back to my full-time corporate job, and really wanted to find something that I enjoyed and felt passionate about. I feel like if I had started sooner, maybe I would have been able to make this my full time job. This is still the goal!

Sarah, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am a Memphis Fire wife and mom of 2 toddlers. They are my whole world! Like many new moms, I needed something that was for me. Something to help me find myself in the challenges of motherhood. The thought of opening a new business, and something in the creative-sector, never crossed my mind growing up. I was always very methodical, process driven, detail-oriented. Something about the challenge of creative balloon design truly intrigued me! This really opened up a new skillset for me that I never realized I had. I think that this helps me when designing for my clients. Not only am I detail-orientated, I understand my clients’ design needs from a personal perspective. I understand the importance of a wow-factor during events and parties, and the lasting memories that events and parties can have! I think this sets me apart in this industry. I hope to continue to learn new techniques, follow design trends, and to create new trends myself!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Being apart of a community, like the one I live in, really helps. Word of mouth is the strongest source for new clients. I absolutely love that I can be apart of a community like this, it continues to expand. I think the biggest part of what I do is the connections that I make with my clients as well. Customer service is just as important as the product that is delivered. I try to connect on a personal level. This is not just a business transaction, it’s a community connection.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I want to do this full-time! I LOVE what I do within this industry, and I want to continue in this as long as I can. I am going to continue to push myself to learn and improve. The ultimate goal would also be to open a studio or storefront. I speak life into this daily, to give my kids and my family a better future.
