We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Desireé Mosely. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Desireé below.
Hi Desireé, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
Starting my own business wasn’t originally part of my plan post-graduation. My cousin, who is the Owner of Four Seven Gallery Event Planning and Designs, LLC, encouraged me to dive into the wedding industry as a content creator. That conversation sparked something in me. From there, I began brainstorming business names and researching other wedding content creators to better understand the industry. I reached out to the local Small Business Development Center, where they assisted with the logistics of launching a business. They provided a detailed, step-by-step checklist that helped turn my ideas into a structured plan.
After that, everything started to come together. I chose a business name, created my logo, launched my social media pages, and began building my portfolio. I researched equipment, connected with other wedding content creators and vendors online, and attended bridal shows and networking events to grow my presence and relationships within the industry. Starting your own business truly takes a village. It is a tedious process but when you’re pursuing something you love, it makes every step worth it. We celebrated our one-year anniversary in February and are committed to continuing to elevate, create, and serve with excellence.

Desireé, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
As a little girl, I truly enjoyed capturing moments with my family and friends through pictures and videos. Capturing moments felt natural to me, even before I realized it could become something more. It wasn’t until I moved to Houston in 2021 that I discovered my passion for content creation. I started my content journey on TikTok, where I shared food reviews, lifestyle vlogs, and conversational videos. Then, I expanded my social media presence on to YouTube, Instagram, and X, allowing me to connect with a wider audience.
From there, I transitioned to UGC (user-generated content) content creation, producing authentic and engaging videos for brands to help them connect with and expand their target audience. After gaining experience, I decided to venture into the wedding industry. As a wedding content creator, I serve as my clients’ personal hype woman, capturing the intimate, joy-filled moments of their special day while making sure they feel confident, celebrated, and fully present. Through my business, Desired Creations by Desireé, I create reels and highlight videos that are ready for social media the next day. I am most proud of myself for taking a risk, stepping out on faith, and trusting the journey.

Have you ever had to pivot?
After earning my master’s degree in sport management, it was a challenge to navigate through the job market. Instead of allowing that season to discourage me, I chose to pivot. Although it felt like a detour, it was the beginning of my entrepreneurial journey. As I mentioned before, starting my own business was never part of my original plan, but sometimes the path we don’t plan for leads us exactly where we’re meant to be. Building a business to steward has stretched me, challenged me, and allowed me to showcase my creativity. I truly love what I do and am excited for what’s to come.

How did you build your audience on social media?
For my personal social media platforms, I focused on creating content that genuinely resonates with others by expressing my thoughts, experiences, and everyday moments. Through lifestyle content, conversations, or reviews, I aim to be relatable and authentic, so my audience feels seen and connected. Your audience looks for transparency and consistency. This builds trust and people are drawn to content that resonate with them.
Regarding my business social media platforms, my strategy was more intentional and niche focused. I researched and engaged with brides-to-be, wedding content creators, and industry vendors, including venues, planners, coordinators, etc. I studied their content and positioned my page to reflect the value I could bring to their special day. My advice to anyone building their social media presence is do your research, create a content plan, and commit to it. Show up consistently, even when you don’t feel like posting. Most importantly, focus on being the solution to someone’s problem. When you are purpose-driven, authentic, and consistent, the right opportunities will align.
