We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Jeanine Yancy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Jeanine below.
Jeanine, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I started my business in 2023. I had never owned a business before and didn’t know anyone directly who owned their own business, so I wasn’t sure what the ideal scenario would be for me to leave my employer and go out on my own. I wish I had done more planning and preparing before I made the jump. Creating a website, contracts, processes, and setting specific short and long-term goals would have been easier to do before I was in a position where I had to keep the sales ball rolling. So I don’t think it was a bad time to start a business, but I should have taken more time to put my ideas and goals on paper first.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My journey into interior design began at an early age. As a child, I was captivated by the diversity of the homes I visited. I loved to imagine how people lived in their spaces and often wondered how I would design them differently. This curiosity grew over time, leading me to enroll in AutoCAD classes in high school, where I honed my skills in reading, drawing, and rendering house plans. It was then that I knew I wanted to pursue a career in interior design, and I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in 2008.
I have worked with cabinet manufacturers and kitchen and bath designers. My senior internship was with Merillat Cabinets. I then went on to spend two years in Juneau, Alaska providing kitchen and bath design services at the local hardware store. I returned to Michigan in 2010 to work for a wholesale supplier. I played an integral role in designing the Lansing Showroom there. My passion for design continued to grow, expanding my knowledge beyond materials and into installation and enhancing my client relations skills at a retail showroom in Brighton, MI.
In 2023, Yancy Interior Design was born, and now, in 2026, I am excited to focus on my passion as Yancy Kitchen & Bath. This new chapter has allowed me to embrace a lifelong dream and has been a continuous learning experience. I am proud to say that this journey motivates me every day.
With over 15 years of experience, I am dedicated to designing personalized kitchens and baths that are as functional as they are beautiful and designed to stand the test of time. My expertise lies in developing practical solutions that elevate how you live in your space.
I believe that your home should be an extension of who you are, merging aesthetics with practicality. Through a collaborative and engaging design process, she profoundly understands each client’s needs and preferences.
The result? Stunning interiors that not only captivate the eye but are also designed to work harmoniously with your lifestyle and enhance how you live in your home.
At Yancy Kitchen & Bath Design, we take pride in creating inviting and comfortable homes tailored to your needs, ensuring every corner resonates with warmth and individuality.

How did you build your audience on social media?
I started to build a social media presence just by posting consistently and sharing all aspects of the remodeling process, from design to installation and finally completion. Seeking to educate homeowners on what the process looks like, how to prepare, and what to expect while also sharing beautiful before and after photos and client testimonials.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Starting my own business has been the hardest thing I have ever done. There is a lot to learn and improve on to do it well and grow. You’re doing so much on your own the first few years. it requires a lot of time and energy. There are days you’ll want to quit and wonder why you did this because working for someone else was so much easier, but then you’ll have days that are so rewarding and remind you why you continue to push forward. For your community, your family, your team, for your own growth, and ultimately for the unknown ways God may use you.
