Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mary & Jenny Nguyen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mary & Jenny , appreciate you joining us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
One of the most meaningful things we’ve ever done to show appreciation for a client was stepping outside the salon entirely. A longtime client’s daughter was suddenly hospitalized and paralyzed due to an unknown infection. In the middle of fear and uncertainty, she just wanted her daughter to feel like herself again — even in a hospital room. We packed up our tools and went to her bedside.
It wasn’t about polish. It was about normalcy. It was about giving her a moment where she wasn’t a patient, but a young woman getting her nails done. You could see the shift in her energy — the smile, the confidence, the reminder of who she was before everything changed.
We’ve done house calls for clients recovering from surgery, welcoming a new baby, or simply going through seasons where leaving home feels overwhelming. For us, appreciation isn’t a promotion or a discount — it’s meeting people where they are, especially when life is heavy. Those moments remind us that what we do is so much bigger than nails. It’s care, connection, and helping someone feel like themselves again.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Blush Nail Lounge was founded by two sisters who wanted to create a space where nail care feels elevated, welcoming, and intentional. We specialize in structured manicures, gel services, and detailed nail art, always prioritizing nail health and long-term integrity. Every service is customized to the individual so each client leaves feeling confident and polished. While many of our clients are busy women, we’re also proud to serve men who value quality grooming and self-care.
At our core, we focus on experience and care. From thoughtful discussions to special accommodations like hospital visits or house calls during major life moments, we believe service should meet people where they are. What sets us apart is our attention to detail, consistency, and the strong community we’ve built. At Blush, it’s never just about nails — it’s about helping every client feel their best.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Our biggest source of new clients has always been word of mouth. When someone has a great experience, they naturally share it with friends, family, and coworkers — and that kind of referral means everything to us. There’s nothing more powerful than someone trusting us enough to send the people they care about into our space.
Social media has also brought in new faces, even though we’ll be the first to admit we’re not exactly “social media people.” We focus more on delivering consistent, high-quality work in real life than chasing trends online. At the end of the day, genuine relationships and reputation have grown our business far more than any algorithm ever could.

We’d love to hear about how you met your business partner.
This one’s easy — we’re sisters. We didn’t just meet, we grew up together. Long before Blush Nail Lounge existed, we were already building a foundation of trust, loyalty, and shared work ethic.
Working with family isn’t always simple, but for us it’s been one of our greatest strengths. We know each other’s personalities, strengths, and blind spots better than anyone else. That honesty and history allow us to move quickly, challenge each other, and stay grounded in the same vision. At the end of the day, we’re not just business partners — we’re family — and that shows in the way we run our salon and care for our clients.
