We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Stella Boheme. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Stella below.
Stella, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about how you went about setting up your own practice and if you have any advice for professionals who might be considering starting their own?
When Queen of Glam Tarot, LLC first became a thought in my brain, I knew one thing: I had no idea what I was doing or how to run a business! That is to say… I knew what I didn’t know. Sound confusing? Don’t worry — it confused me too. I knew intuitively there was a niche for me and that it was worth exploring.
What really helped me get established was sharing my idea and my passion for what I was doing with everyone. And I mean literally everyone. Many of my leads came from the people around me: my four-year Tarot reading gig at a local art and food establishment came from the manager of a MAC Cosmetics store; a yearly gig at a local book convention came from a co-worker at my day job; and all the wonderful people in my network came because I shared my idea with joy and enthusiasm.
If I could do one thing differently, it would be to embrace making mistakes sooner in the process. As a recovering perfectionist from years of being a professional musician, I often confused “taking a risk” with “being reckless.” I would turn down opportunities thinking they were too risky, when really it was my own comfort zone being challenged. It was through saying yes and learning from mistakes that I was able to trust myself and the message I wanted to share with the world.
I didn’t just want to give Tarot readings or host events; I wanted to curate an entire Tarot-curated lifestyle brand. I wasn’t content with only 1:1 client roles — I wanted people to experience real transformation. I didn’t just want to post about cards on a blog; I wanted a book with my name in the world. Even if the final product wasn’t “perfect,” sharing the journey and being visible created the momentum to move me forward.
My advice to young professionals: jump in, and let visibility create momentum, especially when you’re defining the impact you want to leave in the world. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things — the growth comes from showing up and learning along the way.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Stella Boheme, the founder of Queen of Glam Tarot, LLC, and I help people step into transformation through tarot, ritual, and creative embodiment. My journey into this work wasn’t linear — I started as a professional opera singer before making the leap into the world of Drag. Over time, I realized that while the world of performance allowed me to guide emotion and energy, I wanted a practice that could engage people more directly in transformation and self-discovery. That’s when I became a transformational life coach and facilitator, using Tarot as a bridge to transformation.
I create a full Tarot-curated lifestyle experience, which includes 1:1 readings, group workshops, mentorship programs, spreads and ritual guidance, and content that helps people bring tarot into their daily lives. My work isn’t just about predicting outcomes — it’s about helping clients explore identity, clarify intentions, navigate transitions, and step into their power in tangible ways. I see tarot as both a mirror and a map: it reflects where we are and illuminates paths forward. What sets my work apart is the combination of deep archetypal understanding, ritual integration, and performance magic. I bring joy, glamour, and ceremony into the practice, making transformation feel embodied, celebratory, and real — not just abstract or intellectual. Whether I’m designing a workshop, leading a mentorship cohort, or creating tarot content, the goal is always the same: to give people tools to transform, grow, and shine in their own lives.
I’m most proud of the communities I’ve built, both in-person and online, where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to take risks and embrace change. I’m proud of creating a body of work that blends art, ritual, and guidance in a way that’s uniquely my own.
The main things I want potential clients, followers, or fans to know are: this is a space to explore who you are, expand your potential, and celebrate the magic of your journey. Whether you’re picking up a deck for the first time, stepping into mentorship, or simply following along with content, you can expect joyful, transformative, and deeply practical tools to help you live your life more intentionally and fully.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
From the very first moment I could sing… I sang. Singing on stage was what I wanted more than anything in life. At 16, I decided that being an operatic tenor would be my life, and I pursued it with my whole heart. My pursuit of opera led to incredible opportunities: performing in Italy, England, Germany, and France; working with masters of the classical music world; and teaching the next generation of talent.
But inside, there was an emptiness that no accomplishment could fill. It all came crashing down in 2010, when I overtaxed my voice and lost it for a week. In that unexpected week of silence, I came to a startling realization: singing opera no longer gave me the joy it once did. What had been both a day job and a dream felt perpetually just out of reach.
That same year, I had performed in drag for a few benefit shows — initially as a fun break from the formal and sometimes stuffy opera world. As I made the decision to close the chapter on opera, I opened a new one in drag.
Drag allowed me to be all the things opera wouldn’t: outrageous, beautiful, creative, expressive — and to create my own rules. I built in drag the career I had once dreamed of in opera, and fifteen years later… I am still going fabulously strong.
