We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sandra Jimenez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sandra below.
Hi Sandra, thanks for joining us today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Oh, absolutely becoming a business owner was the best decision I’ve ever made.
Before going full-time, I actually had what many people would consider a dream job. It was stable, Monday through Friday, paid holidays, weekends off the whole thing. The company had strong values, big dreams, and treated us incredibly well. On paper, it was everything you’re “supposed” to want.
But I remember having this quiet, heavy feeling that I couldn’t shake. Even on good days, I felt like I was pouring my energy into building someone else’s dream. And while that dream was a good one, it wasn’t mine. I could feel my creativity slowly dimming. I wasn’t inspired. I wasn’t excited. My spirit felt… flat.
When I finally decided to leave, everyone thought I was crazy. And honestly? I understood why. I was walking away from comfort and certainty into the unknown. But I knew, deep down, that staying would cost me more than leaving ever could.
I didn’t leave because the job was bad I left because it wasn’t feeding my soul.
I’m a creative at heart. I’m always thinking about new ideas, new angles, new ways to tell stories and create experiences. I need space to imagine, to build, to experiment. That part of me was suffocating in a “regular” job structure, even a good one.
So no, I don’t really wonder what it would be like to go back. I’ve been there. It wasn’t terrible it just wasn’t me.
Creating Unik Collective allowed me to step fully into who I am: a creator, a business owner, a visionary. And every day, even the hard ones, feels aligned.
That’s something I wouldn’t trade for anything.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Sandra, a Creative Business Owner & Portrait Photographer, and the founder of Unik Collective a luxury photo booth and event experience brand built on intention, creativity, and serious attention to detail. I’m most proud of creating something that feels aligned with who I am.
Fun is non-negotiable here. Every event is different, every experience is UNIK, but what never changes is how we treat our clients: with care, consistency, and excellence.
Unik Collective was created to elevate what a photo booth can be. We don’t just set up and press start we design polished, immersive experiences for weddings, corporate events, concerts, and large-scale activations that people actually remember.
Photography is the backbone of everything we do. My background as a portrait photographer influences our lighting, composition, and how we guide guests, ensuring every image feels elevated, intentional, and share-worthy.
In just four years in the photo booth industry, I’ve been invited to speak in Las Vegas and inducted into the Millionaire Club by Supply Co milestones that still feel surreal and reflect the growth, trust, and consistency behind the brand.
Oh and I’m also a mentor. I work with other creatives and photo booth owners who want to build profitable, sustainable businesses without burning out or losing their love for creating
I don’t believe in boring experiences if it doesn’t feel fun, intentional, and unforgettable, it’s not UNIK.
At the core of Unik Collective is the belief that luxury can feel warm and professionalism doesn’t have to be stiff. My goal is simple: create unforgettable experiences, deliver exceptional quality, and make every client feel genuinely taken care of.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele has been consistency and treating my business like a full-time commitment, not a side gig.
Showing up in communication, branding, and client experience builds trust long before someone ever books. I focus on doing the basics extremely well: being responsive, staying organized, solving problems calmly, and supporting clients even when it’s inconvenient.
That level of care turns first-time clients into repeat clients and referrals.
Talent matters, but systems, professionalism, and consistency are what truly sustain growth

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My reputation was built by doing the basics really well and doing them consistently.
I stay organized, communicate clearly, and show up prepared especially when working with multiple vendors. And yes… vendors talk. A lot.
So how you show up behind the scenes matters.
I’m on time, I’m respectful, and I do exactly what I say I’m going to do.
I respect timelines, and make sure my presence makes the event run smoother, not harder.
I’m also big on community. I’ve built genuine relationships with vendors and venues who truly support one another we help each other out and step in when needed. That kind of teamwork makes events better and a lot more fun to be part of when things don’t go as planned because events will always event I stay calm, find solutions, and keep it moving. That kind of energy builds trust fast.
Your reputation isn’t built on talent alone, it’s built on how people feel after working with you.
