We often hear about bad bosses, but we think it’s important to talk about the good ones because we hope that by giving folks examples of how to be a good boss we can inspire future bosses to be better, to do better for their employees and all stakeholders.

My father. I worked at an amusement park concession stand that he owned at a small, lakeside village in central New York State. My Dad taught me the value of hard work and to never give up, regardless of what challenges life throws at you. These lessons have stayed with me my entire life. Whether as a Midshipman at the Naval Academy, Division 1 college football player, naval aviator or airline captain, my father’s example is permanently ingrained in my being.
