We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Amber Krystal a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Amber , thanks for joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Absolutely. While many in the beauty, media, and business industries focus solely on outward success, aesthetics, or achievement, my work is deeply rooted in something greater — Marketplace Ministry. I’ve been uniquely called to this space to bring healing, wholeness, and maturity to places people don’t typically associate with ministry. It’s more than a brand, a book, or a broadcast for me — it’s a God-ordained assigned mission.
What sets me apart is that I refuse to separate faith from function. I believe that whether you’re on a film set, behind a mic, at a conference, or leading a business, your internal condition matters just as much as your external presentation. I intentionally build spaces, opportunities, and conversations that challenge people to live authentically, heal from past trauma, and mature into their divine purpose. In an industry where image is often everything, I focus on identity, integrity, and internal health. That’s the difference — and it’s what I’ve been called to do.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Honestly, my start in the industry wasn’t traditional — I just started where I was, with what I had. As a Board Certified Licensed Esthetician, I began posting on social media, sharing my passion for beauty, wellness, and personal transformation. That opened doors for me in the makeup and esthetics world, which eventually led me to executive produce and create my own DVD, and later write several books including my latest eBook, A Call to the Wilderness: A Pursuit to Purpose and Destiny, available on Amazon, which by the way won an award by ChristLit in the UK. That project was birth out of one of my most difficult seasons of my life and turned into a message for others navigating their own wilderness moments.
The core problem I solve is helping people heal from broken, traumatic, and abusive areas of their lives. My mission is to help them become healed, whole, and mature so they can live authentically and walk in the fullness of who God always intended them to be. I do this through ministry, media, marketplace influence, and one-on-one mentorship.
What I’m most proud of isn’t an award, a title, or a platform — it’s finally being free. Free to be Amber Krystal. Free to live, to feel, to dream, and to love myself fully. Free to embrace every part of my story, even the painful chapters. That freedom empowers me to show others that healing and wholeness aren’t just possible — they’re promised when you’re willing to do the work.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Whew—listen, we’ve all had to unlearn some things we thought were working in our favor but, in reality, were keeping us stuck in what I call the sunken place. For me, one of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was believing that certain types of dysfunction were normal just because they were familiar. I realized that a lot of what I endured in relationships — whether romantic, friendships, or family — stemmed from generational patterns of brokenness and trauma people hadn’t healed from.
The backstory is, for years, I kept tolerating dysfunction because I thought it was love, loyalty, or just the way things were. I thought being the “strong one” meant carrying other people’s unhealthy behaviors on my back. But I came to understand that dysfunction doesn’t have to be your inheritance. Generational curses are real, but so is the power to stop them. The moment I recognized those patterns and made a conscious decision to unlearn them and build something healthier for myself, my life began to shift. Healing, wholeness, and maturity became non-negotiables for me — and it’s why I’m so passionate about helping others do the same.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Absolutely. My entire journey has been a testament to resilience, but one story that stands out is the season of my life when I faced homelessness after a series of traumatic and abusive experiences. I went from being a pastor’s wife to watching my entire world crumble due to betrayal and dysfunction I didn’t see coming. I was left broken — mentally, emotionally, and spiritually — and found myself without a place to call home.
But in that wilderness season, God began to rebuild me from the inside out. I realized that healing, wholeness, and maturity weren’t just trendy words — they were survival tools. I had to make hard decisions, like removing myself from environments and relationships that were unsafe for my self-esteem, my nervous system, and my peace. I learned to stop normalizing what hurt me and started protecting what was sacred in me.
That experience birthed my ministry, Be Healed, Be Whole, Be Mature, and led to opportunities I never imagined — becoming an author, a cover girl for major magazines, a TEDx speaker, a beauty expert, and sharing my story on platforms around the world. My resilience isn’t just about what I survived but about what I refused to allow to define me. I chose to rebuild, to rise, and to help others do the same.
