Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Zelda Lebovits. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Zelda , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
Wigs are a cherished accessory for some and a life saver for others. For a long time wigs have been adorned worldwide by women across many faiths, demographics and cultures. Wigs have come a long way in recent years. Today, there are an abundance of options to choose from. There are luxury wigs and there are more affordable options available. There are wigs made from many different hair textures, qualities and colors, as well as various construction designs. In a world of so much there is often a lot of overwhelm and frustration, especially given the fact that regardless of what tier you’re shopping at, wigs are relatively expensive and easily start at about one thousand dollars to upwards of twelve grand. When it comes to this kind of purchase, knowledge is key. Most clients start their wig journey knowing nothing, and this is where I come in and hold their hand. Understanding who my client is, why she wants a wig and what she aims to achieve with her wig is where I start. Getting to know my client helps me serve her. There are so many elements to wigs, between the purpose of wearing it, the price, the comfort and the style. Getting to know my client intimately, allows me to provide immense value. Because to me, success is when my client feels expanded and alive with her wig experience.
xx Zelda

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I grew up around wigs and with the expectation that I would wear one. In Judaism, married women cover their hair in an effort to maintain intimacy and sanctity within the marriage. By covering her hair, a married woman channels her divine feminine power to her husband and family, preventing distraction and burnout. Other than that, I didn’t know much about wigs or hair for that matter. Noticing various colors, textures and lengths was the extent of my knowledge and interest. But all that changed when I got married at 19. I went from having long dirty blonde hair that I wore mostly in a high messy bun to saying yes to the first wig that was placed on my head. Quite similarly to how I came to be engaged actually. The wig was short and dark. The hair was too coarse and too frizzy for the cut. And the style matured me by decades. But what did I know? I was young and agreeable and I started to convince myself that it was fine. Until, I was home on maternity leave, itching to feel like myself again and so I started down the rabbit hole that is wigs. Little did I know that I would soon embark on a lifetime adventure not just in business but in spirituality and wellness. What started off as a passionate quest to feel natural in a wig continues to tug at my soul every single day. I am always striving to answer the questions HOW and WHY. How. How can I make the wig more natural, more comfortable, more affordable. More fun. Why. Why is wig wearing important? Knowing that today’s answers will not be sufficient tomorrow.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Success is getting up just one more time than you fall. This idea really resonates with me. I have had quite a few failures where I did not see the light or a way to get out. But I was committed to figuring it out and not allowing shame or insecurity discourage me. To me, this is resilience. Successful people aren’t more special. smarter, more popular, funnier or even luckier, they are just not willing to give up, no matter what.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Influencer marketing was all the rage for a while. And I have some incredible relationships with influencers I have collaborated with over the years. It is definitely an effective marketing strategy particularly for new brands. However, I am learning that investing capital, energy and time into innovating and perfecting my product is much more rewarding. Building relationships with my clients not only does so much more for my business, but more importantly feels much better to everyone all around.
