Todd, appreciate you joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
The Story of Lyfestyle Visuals LLC: From Idea to Execution
It all started with a sense of uncertainty but a creative spark. As a Navy veteran, I found myself searching for the next chapter in life. I didn’t have a defined career path in mind, but I always had a passion for taking photos and creating. Whether it was capturing moments during my time in service or experimenting with angles and lighting on my downtime, the creative urge was always there.
Then COVID-19 hit, and the world slowed down. For me, that stillness became a catalyst. Stuck at home like everyone else, I turned to content creation as a way to keep my mind active and my creative juices flowing. At first, it was just a hobby—experimenting with fitness videos, modeling shots, and cosplay photography. I didn’t know it then, but I was laying the groundwork for something bigger.
Discovering My Lane
At the time, I was still figuring out where I belonged. I dabbled in different creative fields—fitness modeling, cosplay, and eventually anime content creation. Each of these lanes gave me unique skills and insights. Fitness taught me discipline and how to market myself. Cosplay showed me the importance of storytelling through visuals. Anime content creation allowed me to connect with a niche audience and hone my editing and presentation skills.
I even attended film school to sharpen my technical skills, like shooting, editing, and creating cohesive narratives. The more I learned, the clearer it became that all of these avenues—though seemingly disconnected—had a common thread: storytelling. Whether it was through a fitness vlog, a cosplay photoshoot, or an anime review, I was telling stories.
The Leap to Entrepreneurship
By 2022, I felt ready to take the leap. I realized I could use the skills I had accumulated from all these experiences to offer something unique: professional videography and photography services that focus on storytelling. I started small, doing freelance work for friends and local businesses. Each project taught me something new about working with clients, managing deadlines, and creating visuals that truly resonated.
The turning point came when I officially decided to focus on using these skills as a service for others. In 2023, Lyfestyle Visuals LLC was born. I wanted my business to be more than just a media company—I wanted it to be a platform that could bring ideas to life and showcase individuals, brands, and businesses in the best possible light.
Building the Foundation
The first step was getting the basics in place. I researched everything I needed to legally establish a business:
• Business registration: Filing paperwork to make Lyfestyle Visuals LLC official.
• Brand identity: Designing a logo, creating a website, and developing a consistent visual style.
• Equipment upgrades: Investing in cameras, lighting, and audio gear to ensure professional-quality results.
• Software mastery: Learning tools like Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Lightroom to deliver polished products.
I also leaned heavily on my network. From my cosplay and anime content creation days, I had built a community of creators and small business owners who needed professional media services. My first few clients came from those circles, and their referrals helped me expand.
The Grind
The first year of running Lyfestyle Visuals was a whirlwind. I wore every hat: videographer, editor, marketer, and accountant. Some days were overwhelming, but every project reinforced why I started. Each photoshoot, video, or branding campaign reminded me of the power of storytelling and how impactful visuals could be for a brand or individual.
I also made sure to reflect on the lessons I’d learned from my past experiences:
• Fitness taught me the importance of consistency and showing up every day.
• Cosplay gave me an eye for detail and creativity.
• Anime content creation helped me understand how to connect with audiences through niche content.
Fast Forward to Today
Now in 2025, Lyfestyle Visuals LLC is continuing to grow and expand. My business offers a full suite of videography and photography services, from promotional videos to brand storytelling. I’m proud that I’ve built something that allows me to bring all of my passions and skills together in one place.
Looking back, the journey wasn’t linear, but every step—from experimenting during COVID to exploring different creative lanes—played a critical role in shaping the business. Today, I’m not just creating for myself; I’m helping others tell their stories in ways they never imagined.
Lyfestyle Visuals LLC isn’t just a business; it’s the culmination of years of creativity, discipline, and learning. And it’s just the beginning.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A major lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that I needed to have everything figured out before taking a leap. For the longest time, I thought that success required complete preparation, a foolproof plan, and a deep understanding of every aspect of what I was getting into. This mindset often held me back, keeping me in the planning phase rather than in action.
The backstory is rooted in my transition out of the Navy. When I left the structured environment of military life, I felt like I needed to find a “perfect” path before moving forward. I didn’t know what that path was, but I loved taking photos and creating in general. Still, I hesitated to take it seriously because I felt I didn’t know enough about the industry or how to start a business.
COVID-19 was a turning point. With the world on pause, I found myself diving into content creation—starting with fitness, modeling, cosplay, and even anime reviews. At first, it was just for fun, but eventually, I realized I wanted to do this professionally. The problem? I still didn’t know all the technicalities of running a business, marketing myself, or offering services. That fear of not knowing enough almost stopped me from moving forward.
What I had to unlearn was the belief that I needed all the answers upfront. Slowly, I started to take small leaps—experimenting with freelance work, investing in better equipment, and networking with others in the creative field. Every step was a learning process. Some days, I felt completely lost, but those were the days I learned the most.
One pivotal moment came when I finally registered Lyfestyle Visuals LLC. I remember hesitating to submit the paperwork because I felt like I wasn’t “ready.” But I realized that waiting for perfection meant I’d never start. Taking the leap taught me that it’s okay to not know it all. It’s okay to learn as you go and figure things out along the way.
Unlearning the need for certainty gave me the freedom to move forward and grow. It taught me that confidence doesn’t come from knowing everything—it comes from trusting yourself to adapt, learn, and improve as you go. Today, Lyfestyle Visuals LLC thrives not because I knew everything from the start, but because I embraced the journey of figuring it out.

How did you build your audience on social media?
How I Built My Audience on Social Media
Building my audience on social media wasn’t an overnight success—it was a process of trial, error, and consistency. It all started during the COVID-19 pandemic when I had more time on my hands. At the time, I didn’t set out to grow an audience; I just wanted to share what I loved: fitness, cosplay, and anime. Looking back, those early posts were the foundation of what would eventually become a loyal and engaged community.
Step 1: Finding My Voice and Niche
Initially, I posted a mix of fitness content, creative cosplay projects, and anime reviews. While it might have seemed scattered, it was all authentic to who I was, and that authenticity resonated. People could see I was passionate about what I was creating, and that genuine connection helped me stand out. I leaned into the things I enjoyed most—anime storytelling and creative visuals—and that helped me define my niche.
Step 2: Consistency and Experimentation
At first, I didn’t have a solid posting schedule. But as I started to see more engagement, I committed to being consistent. I posted regularly, tested different styles of content, and paid attention to what worked and what didn’t. For example, short-form videos and behind-the-scenes clips of cosplay shoots got a lot of traction, so I started creating more of those.
The key was to experiment without fear of failure. Not everything I posted was a hit, but each “miss” taught me something about my audience.
Step 3: Engaging With the Community
One of the most important lessons I learned early on was that social media is a two-way street. I wasn’t just creating content; I was connecting with people. I responded to comments, joined conversations in niche communities, and supported other creators by engaging with their work.
For example, in the anime space, I connected with other content creators by participating in trends, sharing reactions to popular shows, and commenting on their posts. Over time, these interactions helped me grow a network of like-minded creators and followers.
Step 4: Diversifying Platforms
While Instagram and TikTok became my main platforms, I didn’t limit myself. I used YouTube for longer-form anime content and started exploring trends on platforms like Twitter to stay visible. This cross-platform approach ensured that I reached different types of audiences while keeping my content fresh.
Step 5: Evolving With My Audience
As my audience grew, their feedback shaped the type of content I created. They loved my anime reviews and cosplay breakdowns, so I leaned into those areas. Later, as I transitioned into more professional videography, I began sharing behind-the-scenes insights into my work with Lyfestyle Visuals LLC. This shift allowed me to bring my audience along for the journey, creating a sense of shared growth.
Advice for Building a Social Media Presence
1. Start With What You Love: Authenticity is key. Share content you’re genuinely passionate about, and your audience will sense that energy.
2. Find Your Niche: It’s easier to stand out if you focus on a specific area. Whether it’s anime reviews, cosplay tutorials, or fitness tips, find what makes you unique.
3. Be Consistent: Posting regularly helps you stay top-of-mind for your audience. But remember, quality matters as much as quantity—don’t rush content just to post.
4. Engage With Your Audience: Respond to comments, participate in conversations, and show genuine interest in your followers. Building relationships is just as important as creating content.
5. Experiment and Learn: Don’t be afraid to try new things. Whether it’s testing new formats or hopping on trends, experimentation helps you grow and evolve.
6. Stay Patient and Persistent: Growth doesn’t happen overnight. Focus on building a community rather than just chasing numbers.
7. Diversify Your Content: Don’t rely on just one platform or type of content. Use short-form videos, stories, and even live streams to keep your audience engaged.
Building an audience is a journey. It’s about finding your voice, connecting with others, and staying adaptable as your passions and goals evolve. For me, social media wasn’t just about growth—it was about creating a community that supported my creative journey and my business ventures with Lyfestyle Visuals LLC.
