We were lucky to catch up with Daniel Vanzzini recently and have shared our conversation below.
Daniel , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Success is measured by what the person is willing to put into whatever they’re trying to be successful at. I believe that success is accomplished purely by being dedicated and working towards the overall goal in order to achieve it. Even though there are a lot of tools to help someone become successful at the end of the day it’s solely on that person to achieve success. I also believe that being successful doesn’t necessarily have to be a grand thing that most people think of or describe when it comes to being successful. It’s ok to have a small goals that will eventually get to a bigger goal. Accomplishing those small goals still makes a person someone successful even if it’s not the over all goal. That applies to our personal life and business life. Success exists in our everyday lives, big and small. It’s its important to approach our goals with patience and grace.

Daniel , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Daniel Vanzzini. I typically go by Danny V. Im a tattoo artist in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I’ve been tattooing for over 18 years now and have been a co owner of a tattoo shop for over a year. I try my best to provide whatever the client is looking for I their tattoo. While I try not really specialize in any specific style I enjoy the most working on American traditional and Japanese style tattoos. My main goal in what I do it to provide a high class tattoo within an environment where my client feels safe, comfortable and seen.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
For me personally the best way to grow a clientele is in the tattoo experience I provide them. Beyond giving the client 120% with every tattoo that I do, whether it’s big or small. Creating a safe and comfortable environment for them is crucial. Tattooing is a very intimate procedure. I’m very much in their personal bubble/space as well as physically touching them. It’s important that the client feels respected both how they’re treated but handled. It’s also very important to me is to genuinely get to know my clients somewhat personally as well and make them feel seen. If those few things are met during a tattoo that individual leaves with a great and also a overall pleasant time they’re sure to come back but also going to reccomend me as an artist to everyone they know who wants a tattoo.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
I feel that a majority of people who aren’t creatives don’t realize how hard at times it can be to be creative. While some have creative ability like drawing, painting, writing or whatever it may be by now means is it easy. Truly I feel that a big portion of my clients have no idea the amount of time and effort that’s put into the process of designing and drawing their art before the tattoo process even begins. Also the continuous amount of time and effort placed into my art outside of tattooing to be able to better myself artistically and exercise that part of my creative mind to be able to continuously be able to provide my best. While I do have plenty of clientele who are appreciative the time I spend on them to create a wonderful atttoo form start to finish, a lot of clients also have this idea that I can also just whip out drawing with easy or completely change a tattoo idea no problem not knowing that I had just spent 2-3 hours on their first choice of design.
