Deviating from industry norms is one of the most common characteristics we’ve seen among highly successful brands and professionals and so we’ve asked some brilliant folks to give us real life examples of how they do things differently from the industry standard.

I feel as if we all have our own approach and way of being in any industry we choose but for me personally I definitely think my way of existing within a field that is so demanding of your spirit & time, and physical appearance is much different. I’m a writer, a muse, and a healer. None of these things have traditional takes but most importantly each call on a different me to be present. My different approach to these three realms are simple, it’s allowing what comes to come all while still actively searching each moment for ways I may be able to show up within a hose fields. As co-founder of Vogue Parquet, I have a single mission, which is to grow our business based on our clients’ satisfaction. When a client hires me for their project, they do not do it because they like me, or because I am a woman, they hire me for my expertise. Our strength lies in the efficient approach of each project and the flawless achievement of high quality. Whether a project is a traditional wood floor, herringbone style wood flooring, or the construction of a new staircase, the Vogue Parquet Signature is the class that a project radiates, thanks to our craftsmen. Many people talk about genius but very few people understand what genius really is. The industry standard is to attribute genius based on IQ, but this is just a small fraction of an individual’s actual potential. What if we took into account someone’s emotional, physical, psychic and energetic attributes? I have developed a process that helps people actually connect and align with their unique genius and apply it consciously to their lives. Read more>>

I started Arnold Marketing out of frustrations with two areas – how agencies treated their clients, and how businesses treated their people. Most agencies view clients as money machines, a game to play to get as much cash out of them as possible. Clients have no clear understanding of what the agency is even doing on a day-to-day basis or how to measure and track the success of their efforts. Agencies want to create cool or interesting work to put in a portfolio, versus focusing on what will actually move the needle for their clients’ business. Read more>>

What I differently form the industry standard as afar as photography is the creation of Edgy images by merging beauty with desolation or bringing the beauty out of desolation using lighting, whether natural or artificial. Read more>>

It may be an unpopular belief, but I believe that bigger is not always better. Especially when it comes to young couples that are trying to establish a successful future together while remaining financially responsible. I absolutely love grand weddings that make huge statements, but not if that statement is going to harm my Clients in the long run. I would never advise a couple to start their marriage off in debt just to have an over-the-top wedding. Instead I work with my Client’s budgets and bring their visions to life with that budget in mind. However, IF their budgets allow it, then we will definitely go BIG! Read more>>

Yes! The standard florist goes to wholesalers and purchases flowers grown in South America or Holland. As a Farmer-Florist, I grow most of my own flowers. If I do not have flowers, I try to source them as locally as possible. This reduces carbon emissions and keeps more money in the local community. That said, I tell my customers that I only deal with local flowers, including seasonality in colors, and varieties from month to month. Read more>>

The fashion industry is all about how to produce the cheapest item possible to make the highest profit – even if that means grueling workplace environments for the men & women who make what we wear. Even if it means low quality construction that falls apart after a few wears. We’re doing things differently. We’re proudly part of the slow fashion movement, producing in small batches so we’re making just what we need each season & reducing waste of over production. Read more>>

I believe wellness and beauty must co-exist and for that reason, every client service includes energy healing with their hair appointment at the shampoo bowl. While it’s not required, I enjoy calling in people who want to turn off the outside world and allow themselves to be taken care of in a way that honors the mind, body and spirit. I also offer a host of standalone esoteric energy services such as a DNA life activation, cord cutting, good spell castings, crystal rites and Egyptian aura healings. It all depends on what someone is feeling called to explore. I’m definitely more of a pragmatic, results-driven energy healer and enjoy the diagnostics along with the mystical aspect of this work. If there’s anything we want to highlight about our business is that we refuse to fall under the heading of Social Media Influencer. Our goal as food bloggers has been to highlight the artists creating meals or drinks (usually chef owned businesses) with their passion. These businesses tend to fare poorly in the modern environment due to lack of resources and sufficient funding. We are trying to help break industrial and cultural stereotypes. Read more>>

I do things differently by teaching my students how to CONQUER their fears instead of overcoming them. You see, when you overcome your fears (or any problems), you do not solve anything. The fear/problem is still there, and will come back. When you CONQUER the fear or problem, you dissect it to the core, and remove it from your reality. Read more>>

My approach is very documentary, meaning I don’t stage or direct anything. I photograph reality, however it plays out. I do not choose the locations where I’ll be photographing. I recommend that my clients think about locations that have meaning to them and their family. To think of the places they usually hang out together and love to spend their time. Location is such an important character in our memories, having photos made in significant locations adds profound enrichment to the story. Read more>>
