Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Thomas
Hi Sabrina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My humble journey in the acting industry began at the esteemed Ashe Performing Arts Company, where I spent five to five transformative years honing my craft. Initially aspiring to become a singer, I discovered an untapped passion for acting during drama classes, which sparked a newfound interest and sense of aliveness. Following my tenure at Ashe, I joined Probemaster Entertainment, refining my acting skills and revealing hidden talents. I began writing stage plays while continuing to act on stage. After that journey, I developed an interest in writing screenplay, acting in TV sitcoms, and voice-over for an RJR radio drama called “A Place Called Yaard”(written by Rosey Murray Tingling). Notable highlights include “As He Watches” (Thespian Award nominee), “Shattered” (JCDC FIWI Short Film winner), and collaborations like “Bartender” (YouTube series written by Orville Hall) and “Amara The Mortal” (written by Cornelius Grant). Currently, I’m working on “Surviving with Faith,” a project inspired by a true event related to part of my journey as a mother, deepening my understanding of storytelling’s power and fueling my passion for authentic performances. Additionally, I’m excited to share that I’ve been selected and am currently on a role in the upcoming movie “Frances Trauma,” written by Desmond Levene, which will commence filming in Canada in January 2025, marking an exciting new chapter in my career.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey has been marked by humility and unexpected challenges. Despite frequent rejections, I refused to give up. In Kingston, I faced homelessness for over two years, navigating temporary living arrangements while my daughter and mother cared for her, unknown to my colleagues. This tumultuous period tested my resolve, but faith in God sustained me. Through my trials and tribulations, I discovered invaluable life lessons: resilience and perseverance. Reflecting on my experiences, I realize that the highs and lows shaped my story, teaching me to appreciate successes, learn from failures, and cultivate gratitude. My journey, though marked by hardship, has become a testament current to, emerging stronger, wiser, and more determined to share my story, inspiring others to persevere through their trials.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a full-time actress, writer and director, I’ve had the privilege of exploring various mediums through Faith S&N Productions, my hub for innovative storytelling and talent development. I’m proud of my work in commercials, voiceovers and radio dramas, showcasing my versatility. What sets me apart is my dedication to nurturing emerging talent and creating inclusive, impactful stories. I’d love to learn more about your work and explore potential collaborations, sharing knowledge and inspiration.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory? The Great Stew Heist! At 5, I pulled off the ultimate dinner coup. My mom’s best friend had left for an emergency, and I was salivating over the delicious aroma wafting from the kitchen. My mom, thinking I’d be satisfied with my portion, handed me a plate with only one chicken leg. But I had other plans. I snuck into the kitchen, lifted the pot cover and went to town, devouring every last morsel. When her friend returned, empty-handed, I got whopped! Now, I chuckle thinking about that mischievous 5-year-old me, who learned a valuable lesson: appreciate what’s given, and don’t underestimate a hungry child!
