We recently connected with Hellena (the Karbdashian) and have shared our conversation below.
Hellena, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you take vacations? Why or why not?
Vacations are not just about taking a break — they’re about gaining inspiration, recharging, and coming back with fresh perspectives. Without taking vacations, I wouldn’t have had the chance to experience the incredible food I’ve eaten, the cultures behind them, or the stories they tell. There’s a story behind every dish, often shaped by the people who create it, and traveling is a way of exploring those stories.
I understand that for many entrepreneurs, stepping away from their business can seem impossible, but breaks are essential and we all deserve them. Before I take a break, I prepare content in advance — drafting posts and scheduling content to stay consistent. This way, my followers continue to get the content they come for while I get the chance to relax or focus on capturing new experiences.
Traveling provides experiences that fuel creativity. Visiting new places and trying new foods not only gives me a well-earned break but also serves as the foundation for future content. I return rejuvenated, with new stories, flavors, and recommendations to share, wherever in the world my followers are. Vacations aren’t stepping away from my blog — they’re a chance to make it richer.
As a business owner, delegation can be key. If you have a small team or a trusted freelancer, consider passing on tasks. Even solo entrepreneurs can benefit from virtual assistants — it’s not something I’ve tried, but many find it effective. For any entrepreneur, the key is realizing that taking time off isn’t detrimental; it’s an investment. When you come back rested and inspired, you’re able to approach your business with more creativity, energy, and passion.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I run a food-centric account across Instagram and TikTok called The Karbdashian, where I review and recommend local and international food spots. My goal is simple: to inspire people to travel through taste. For me, food is the gateway to exploring cultures — trying something new on a plate is like experiencing a piece of the world. I started this blog out of my love for food, for different cultures, and for the thrill of discovering new flavors.
I love visiting my favorite restaurants as well as exploring new ones, and I use my platform to share my experiences and make recommendations. This allows me to promote small and independent businesses that deserve the spotlight. Alongside my own recommendations, I often get invited to collaborate with various food and drink establishments, helping them showcase their products to my followers or their customers. I thrive on these projects, whether it’s crafting a series of photos or creating a reel or TikTok that truly captures the essence of what they offer. One day, I’d love to expand my role by managing social media accounts for businesses in the food industry. It feels natural to provide value at both ends — supporting businesses by promoting their offerings and making it easier for my followers to decide where to eat.
What sets me apart is that I genuinely care about each experience. I care about the flavors, the stories, the people behind every dish. You could ask me about any restaurant I’ve been to, and I’d paint you a vivid picture of the atmosphere, the people I met, and the flavors I tasted. For me, it’s never just about the meal — it’s about connecting with the people behind it. I’m proud that, even though my face may not often appear on my page, my personality shines through. My followers know that there’s a real person behind the posts, one who listens, interacts, and genuinely wants to share the best of what’s out there.
To potential followers, my ode is to go beyond providing a service — I want to build a connection. I want to share the best experiences, honestly and authentically. My brand, The Karbdashian, is about showcasing the real celebrities of the food world — the places and dishes that truly deserve to be idolized. My mission is to celebrate incredible food and the people who make it, and to share that passion with everyone who follows along.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative, especially in the world of food, is the connection it brings — with people, places, and the food itself. There’s something incredibly special about transforming an experience into a piece of art, whether it’s through photos, videos, or words that truly capture the essence of a meal. When someone reaches out simply to tell me they loved a restaurant I recommended, that’s when I feel the most fulfilled. It’s the idea that my passion for food can inspire or guide someone, helping them create a memorable experience of their own. At its core, it’s about sharing my love for the ritual of food and having that resonate with others in a way that enriches their lives, even if just for a single meal.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Honestly, as someone who has always been obsessed with food, eating out, and trying new restaurants, I needed a place to document it all — that’s how my Instagram began. At first, it was just me sharing how much I loved the food I ate and posting the pictures and videos I took. Now it has evolved into a guide to restaurants, bars, and anything food related!
Building my audience on social media was an organic journey that started from nothing but a passion for food. I focused on capturing the art of food in ways that felt personal and true to my experiences. I wanted to show my followers not just what I was eating, but why it was special — the flavors, the textures, the atmosphere of each place. I made it a point to be consistent, respond to messages, and build genuine relationships with my audience. I think people could sense my authentic passion, and that’s what kept them coming back.
For those just starting out, I’d say be authentic and unique. The internet is full of polished content; it doesn’t need more of the same. Find your unique angle — if it’s food-related, determine your specific palate, your storytelling style, or the particular way you experience food.
Consistency is important, but so is patience. Building a meaningful presence takes time. Don’t be afraid to experiment and see what resonates with your followers, and don’t hesitate to ask them directly what they enjoy. Engage with your audience, be approachable, and genuinely care about the community you’re creating. Real connections are what lead to a loyal following over time.
And above all, enjoy the process. When your passion shines through, people will notice.
