It may sound a bit corny, but heartwarming events kinda happen all the time in my line of work. It happened when one of my clients got their five-year sober chip. The first year of sobriety in substance use recovery is often the hardest and I’ve been privileged to walk with this client through most of that journey. Seeing that accomplishment was profound and they were absolutely beaming while they talked about this event. Years of overcoming housing insecurity, family/generational trauma, and so much more. I often get asked the question, “what led you to become a therapist that does “this pelvic” stuff?” My answer is that as a pelvic health therapist, I have the opportunity to build an awesome client-provider relationship and truly make a difference in each person’s life, which is such a rewarding career. Yes, in pelvic health therapy we sometimes have to talk about very personal and intimate issues, even details about the “gross” stuff. But in my (biased) opinion, it is SO worth finding a provider who will listen to all of the issues you’re experiencing, to truly get to the root of the problem. This type of client-provider relationship allows me to share in some of these heartwarming outcomes… Read more>>

I actually have a few, but this one is probably my favorite. A few years ago, I had the privilege of working with a client who wanted to change her life, both physically and emotionally. When we first met, she shared her desire to feel healthier, stronger, and more accomplished. She wanted to finally feel proud of herself and confident in maintaining a healthier lifestyle. But it quickly became clear that her challenges with food went much deeper than simple diet changes. Her relationship with food had been shaped by her own mother’s habits in the kitchen. Growing up in a large household, she watched her mother handle the pressure of feeding many children, often with stress and anxiety. That tension left a mark, leading to her own trauma around food preparation. She confessed to me that she couldn’t even walk into a grocery store without feeling a wave of panic. “I want to know what a healthy day of eating looks like,” she said, “but as soon as I park the car at the grocery store, I’m overwhelmed. I don’t want to feel this way anymore.” Read more>>

I worked with a female client of mine who was in her mid 50’s. She was a mother of four, and struggled for over a decade with bone crushing fatigue, pain, sleep issues and a feeling of an unfulfilled life due to the inability to be and do the things she always wanted to do.. With her kids now grown and out of the home, she had extra time to attend to her health. Over the course of a year or two, she saw many doctors, both conventional and functional medicine providers, and while she saw slight improvements, she still continued to struggle and was told she had fibromyalgia. This was a devastating diagnosis, which led to feelings of hopelessness and fear that she’d never get her life back. However, she didn’t give up all hope and continued to look for answers. A heartwarming story from my career that I often look back on is when I worked with a young woman who had struggled with severe anxiety and depression for years. She felt hopeless and unsure if therapy would even help her. But over time, through our sessions, I witnessed a transformation in her mindset and her life. She became empowered, developed healthy coping mechanisms, and even began advocating for others who were struggling with their mental health. Seeing her regain confidence and find joy in life again reminded me of why I do what I do—it’s these moments of healing and growth that fuel my passion for helping others. Read more>>

One of the most special parts of being a health coach is watching the transformation clients make – not just in their weight and health, but in their mindsets and confidence. While I have many clients that I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this happen for, one in particular continues to inspire me! She’s lost over 50 pounds, but through that journey, she has found so much. She’s found confidence in her ability to navigate the ups and downs (of life, her health, and the scale). She’s found an ease in walking through the world – both physically and emotionally. She’s found peace with food and in her relationship (which would be impacted by sugar consumption and feeling generally unwell). She’s found community in fitness classes. She’s found strength and mobility with weight loss and exercise. And what really warmed my heart: she’s found inspiration and has chosen to share her story with a blog. Health coaching absolutely fills my soul and I feel incredibly grateful to help people change their lives. Read more>>
