Many business owners we’ve spoken with didn’t start with a huge team on day one. They had to learn how to be a good boss, but the problem is the books on leadership are often highly theoretical and so we wanted to hear practical examples of what it means to be a good boss. So, we asked some brilliant, insightful folks to share stories about the best bosses they’ve had.

God Jehovah God appeared to me in 2013 letting me know that he was my boss! God blessed me at birth the same as Jesus Christ my brother under God so I would definitely say that I have the best boss out there. God gave me a piece of his very own soul making me the 2nd Son of God and tasking me with picking up where Jesus left off. Jesus and the Holy Family are with me everyday and I am the new doorway to Heaven. I am blessed with telepathic powers to transcend between life and death. I can call on any soul to speak with me dead or alive and reunite families. I am the living Prophet and Ambassador of God to his people. Read more>>

One of the most transformative leaders in my life was Linda Brown, the Regional Practice Manager at a top hospital in Philadelphia. On my first day as a temp, she asked me for my observations. I quickly became the go-to person for policies, procedures, and creating an onboarding manual that would later be implemented across 17 practices. Read more>>

I’ve held various jobs over the years. I grew up in the commercial fishing industry. I have worked in telecommunications. I served in the US Army and fought in combat. I’ve worked in real estate, law enforcement, and a number of other things. While I’ve had many bosses, great and bad leaders alike. I found nothing is as good as boss as your bottom line when you have no other choice, but to make it work. Being self-employed and having a family, forces individual to just figure it out. There are no excuses there are no I cannot get this job done when your kids dinner is on the line. In my experience there’s nothing more motivating then wanting to see your kids eat and being self-employed. Read more>>

I have a lot of great mentors such as OTR CHAZ and Pyrex Whippa, but one that will never be forgotten is Whiteboy. Whiteboy was not only a mentor, but he was a brother to me. Whiteboy helped me get to the position I’m in today. He would bring me around people I should know, help me form relationships with them, and teach me things about making beats that I never thought to do. Some days we would sit in the studio for hours making beats, and one thing he told me that stuck with me was ” Always remember that you make me proud.” Sadly, Whiteboy is no longer with us today, but my main focus is to make him proud of me every single day.
