Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Dauve Hairston. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Dauve thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I always knew I wanted to pursue dance since I was 4 to 5 years old but there was a specific time when I was younger I played sports ( basketball to be specific at the time ) and I was trying to balance both but dance just took over all my time and energy. I vividly remember my coach and mom just being like “ We don’t think you want to play sports “
And of course Mainly watching Michael Jackson all my life that was when my dreams were formed as a dancer and it has never been the same since for me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My Craft starts with family. My family plays a huge part in who I am today and why dance was the route I took.
From my great grandparents down to my generation dancing is in the family so I just picked up what I felt was already meant for me.
Musical Theater plays a huge part in my craft as well since I was a kid and my mother done these things when she was younger so again goes back to family always .
With all these things I do now just to name a Few I teach All over the world / Perform / Judge / Compete / Create Choreography etc…
I believe what sets me apart is my story and my why behind it. I’m a 23 year old black male that’s from Cleveland Ohio and I have a son that looks up to me , That alone has set me up to come from a different perspective in whatever it is that I do.
I also believe that God made all of us in a unique way and just walking in that will always set me apart in a room full of other gifted artists as well.
I think I am most proud of my
Impact, I didn’t start off of social media and even in my generation with social media being your resume or the first thing people see my work and impact was very powerful through word to mouth.
Before I even figured out how to utilize social media to my advantage the feeling I left people with in my craft spoke for itself and even today with social media to see my impact be a thing all over the world and not locally that is something I will always be proud of.
For people that don’t know me or my brand I just want people to know that there’s power in walking in how unique you are, that there is no one like you.
That’s how I want people to feel when I leave that dance floor , I hope to make others feel inspired because nothing can grow with a selfish mindset or approach so I just want to continue to give as god pours into me.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I can tell so many stories about the obstacles I’ve been through to get to where I am , they all hold so much weight that’ll show how resilient I am.
Honestly doing the things I do coming from a city like Cleveland shows resilience with in itself.
Just to share one experience that I’ve recently overcame was the process of getting my passport.
For years now the impact that comes from my dance has reached all over the world before I even stepped foot into these places , so many communities and organizations contacting me to attend their events to either Judge , Teach, or just simply be there but at the same my passport was not a thing.
I was booked for my first event out of the country and found out last minute I couldn’t go , it crushed me pretty bad I felt like I had no more hope left.
The feeling of knowing I have Impact all over the world but being stuck in one city , state , and or country was a hard place to be in But God is so good.
I entered a battle earlier this year that won me a trip to Germany and by my surprise I won the whole event and everything that came with it.
The community helped , family helped , friends helped , and throughout everything I was able to get my passport and go on one of the most impactful , life changing trips in my entire life ( At least so far ).

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My Goal is to have what I do and what I stand for on big stages.
Mainly Broadway and any other platforms that would be fit, I also would love to write and choreograph my own musical one day as well.
Of course another goal is to be a blessing to the next artist and the next artist and the next artist after that one.
It’s room for all of us to succeed and if I can be a vessel in a blessing for a another person then that’s fulfilling of a goal by itself.
