I donate $1k of my commission towards my clients closing costs who are healthcare workers as a “thank you for all that they do.” So, when they buy and/or sell a house with me, I will donate $1k back to them for each transaction. We are big believers in sustainability. Our original furniture was made from recycled materials, so there was a sense of guilt when expanding into furniture made from good old fashioned wood. Before we made our first sale, we decided that if we were going to sell wood furniture, we were going to make sure we planted more trees than we harvested. Every quarter, my company, Cheese & Thank You, donates 20% of sales to local charities in Colorado Springs, CO, which is my hometown that I moved back to in 2018. The first charity I donated to was The Restoration Woodshop at Mountain Springs Church; they make furniture for foster kids! I allowed my fellow coworker, also an RN, Brent Stoltzfus, to pick out the charity since he was my first paying customer ever! An estimated 50 million people are trafficked globally (according to International Justice Missions website). When I first heard of the statistics surrounding this issue I was in shock. I couldn’t fathom that number so in my senior year of college I decided to co-lead a trip to India and get up close to the issue. My team and I volunteered with an organization called Rahab’s Rope specifically understanding their holistic approach to aftercare.
