Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Jaclyn Cirinna. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Jaclyn, appreciate you joining us today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Two years ago I began developing the idea to start an LLC to create a space for all of my projects in the Juvenile Justice Reform to be hosted. I had some down time and played around with brand names and researched entity types. LLC seemed like the best fit. Fast forward two years later, I am now relocated and live in Florida and it seemed like I finally found peace. What better time to begin a Business owner journey. I had been working in the National Space again for about a year and slowly felt myself reconnecting with the reform after covid.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I got into the Juvenile Justice Reform space when I was 18, I am 25 now. It is all about who you know and who you choose to keep around in your circle.
I had just entered into public speaking statewide in Massachusetts and a few months in a colleague of mine introduced me to a Youth Advisory cohort that was recruiting young people with lived system experience Nationally. Thankfully I applied and was selected.
My experience was so amazing I didn’t want it to end. After the cohort ended I reapplied to serve another round and luckily was selected again.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Throughout public speaking I began sharing my own journey of how I got from a low space to a more healed version of myself. For a while young minded me kept myself extremely busy and thought that was the best way to get over my past, but it wasn’t. I began to take a closer look in the mirror and realize it is important to be concious of every decision and that it is entirely my responsibility to heal my trauma on a daily basis.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
Building relationships with individuals formerly or actively system involved will not always be easy. Some days it’s really hard ward because we are all in various places of our healing and we can natural project our energies onto each other so not taking that personally was huge for me to unlearn.
