Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Tori Wentz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Tori, appreciate you joining us today. How do you feel about asking friends and family to support your business? What’s appropriate, what’s not? Where do you draw the line?
Never be afraid to ask for help. The worst thing they can do is say no. The ask – no matter how big or small – is out there. It’s up to them how they respond to it. Everything is going to eventually get done.
From personal experiences, I had countless of times asking family, friends, and strangers for help – and every time I have asked, each time has surprised me. One time I was at an AutoZone, trying to check the batteries in one of my buses. While I was waiting, a man tending to his own car in the parking lot offered to help me. Since there was a long wait and it was already past 9 pm, I accepted his help so I could get home. While checking my battery, he noticed that I had a blown fuse that was causing the battery issue. A new fuse was $10, whereas a new battery was well over $200. Never be afraid to ask people for help, the answer will always surprise you.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was proudly born and raised in Charlotte, NC so providing services to people in this city means a lot to me. Growing up I watched my dad operate his own charter bus company. I went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy and a minor in Entrepreneurship from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Coming back to Charlotte after college was completely different as the city had changed and had received a lot of new residents. Going back to my childhood dreams fueled CLT TOURS – bringing a unique way to experience Charlotte and the surrounding areas.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Honestly, the most effective strategy has been word of mouth. We receive many calls from customers mentioning they found our reliable and comfortable services and are often eager to recommend CLT Tours to their friends, family, and colleagues. This organic form of marketing carries significant weight as people tend to trust recommendations from trusted sources more than traditional advertising methods. Additionally, positive word of mouth can spread rapidly through social networks and online reviews, amplifying the reach and credibility of CLT Tours. By consistently delivering exceptional service, CLT Tours has cultivated a strong base of loyal customers who serve as ambassadors, promoting the company’s services and contributing to its steady expansion within the transportation sector.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I wrote the business plan for CLT Tours more than 3 years before I started to take the financial risks to start my business. Writing a business plan three years before actually launching CLT Tours demonstrates remarkable resilience and determination. Despite the extended period of time between conceiving the idea and executing it, the unwavering commitment to the vision remained steadfast. This resilience is a testament to the belief in the business concept and the ability to persevere through potential setbacks or obstacles that may have arisen during those three years. Such resilience is a crucial trait for entrepreneurs, as it allows them to navigate the inevitable challenges and uncertainties that come with starting a new venture. By maintaining focus and dedication throughout the prolonged planning phase, the foundation was laid for a well-thought-out and carefully crafted business strategy, ultimately contributing to the successful establishment of CLT Tours.
