Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sean Casey. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Sean thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think folks should manage their own social media or hire a professional? What do you do?
Everything you see on my social media platforms is organically posted by me. Everyone wants tons of followers. I average 3 million in monthly engagement.
But that has come with trial and error, learning from my inconsistencies and finding a niche.
You have to be consistent.
It doesn’t matter if your post gets 1 like or 1,000.
The algorithms have changed so much over the years, but they still reward consistency.
I post hair cutting techniques everyday on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok.
While I do include content that provides glimpses of my personal life, consistency taught me that my audience values education. You have to offer something that people want, and for me that has been through educating my followers on becoming industry professionals.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
As an educator, I’ve shared what I know with more than 10,000 students globally.
I’m an entrepreneur, too. I own seven “TwinCutZ” barber shops in Southwest Florida – which has earned the title of Gulfshore Life Magazine’s “2018 Small Business of the Year”.
My credentials include certifications from institutions like Tony & Guy London, Menspire London, Schorem Old School Academy in Amsterdam, and classic barbering in Rome.
I’m a cancer survivor, too.
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Finding the money to start my business started with a combination of networking and savings. As a barber, I generated a substantial clientele. Through my clients, I generated an expansive network within my community. This would lead to the launch of successful networking and social events within the Southwest Florida community. They were a huge hit – as I would bring in outside talent and draw big crowds. Most of the money I earned from these events went straight to savings and became the foundation of my first barber shop. It was a testament to the power of community engagement and strategic financial planning.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Life was rolling smoothly. My four shops were thriving and my health was on point. That’s until I spotted a lump on my neck. Cue the gut punch: stage four non-Hodgkins lymphoma – a curveball I obviously never saw coming. But with two kids who mean the world to me, giving up wasn’t an option. Eight rounds of chemo later, and moments that tested my resilience…I’m blessed to be in remission.Amidst the battle, I managed to open another shop and continued eaching across the country. I was determined to not let this beat me, and to not let it impact all that I worked so hard to build for my family. It’s all about pushing forward, taking care of myself, and cherishing every moment with my loved ones.
