Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Feyisayo Orisadipe. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Feyisayo, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
My love for dance began when I was nine years old while being a part of the dance ensemble in church. Due to my family’s finances, I was not able to receive consistent training outside of public school and church. However, this did not stop from pursuing what I love. My passion for the art of movement gave me the motivation to share my knowledge of the art with others. This drove me to teach children and adults, like myself, who were not privileged enough to seek professional dance training. Additionally, being apart of the change to cultivate positive and meaningful environments for safe dance practice.

Feyisayo, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Feyisayo Orisadipe and I have been dancing for 15 years. I have had the privilege of training in genres such as Ballet, Modern, Majorette, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Contemporary. I received my Bachelors degree in Theater Arts with a concentration in Dance and Movement studies and a Masters of teaching degree in K-12 dance education. Developing Pure Excellence’s mission is to educate a diverse group of children on their passion for dance and movement. I welcome all students who aim to dance professionally or recreationally. Because of this I cater my teaching methods and curriculum to equip students to be fully educated and prepared for the professional performance world if desired. I encourage my students to not only strive for excellence in everything they do, but to have a compassionate and empathetic character as they navigate through the world as people and performers. Students will understand the significance of using art to enrich the lives of others. They will understand that the power of art can be reached to touch the hearts of thousands in a powerful way.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients has been a combination of resources. Word of mouth, social media, and posters in local community areas have been my best way to market my business.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
When starting my business, I honestly had an unrealistic expectation of the success of the company. I thought I would immediately have a million students in my company. I did not realize that it would be more difficult than I would have imagined. I currently have two students in my dance company and I could not be more grateful for where I am because there was a point where I had zero. This has made me work ten times harder on marketing and looking for different ways to promote my business. I have had to change my perspective from glass half empty to glass half full. Despite having a rocky start I never lose sight of my dreams and aspirations in life. I allow the slow progress because it will only make me appreciate the greater successes ahead ten times more.
