We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Jen Haddix a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Jen, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively?
My dad is my hero and my biggest inspiration. When I was growing up, he left his 6 figure steady job as a parts manager for Toyota to pursue his dream of owning a printing business (which he started in our garage). I would fall asleep every night to the sound of the whirring printing press. I remember going to school and excitedly telling all of the other kids about the Gutenberg festival he attended (a super fun convention where all the printing nerds go). They didn’t care, of course, but I was just so proud that he was my dad.
Cut to today: he has been in business for over 30 years and I have been an entrepreneur since 2014. I do not believe that I would feel equipped to take the risks required when you’re in business for yourself, nor would I have the strength and fortitude to consistently put myself out there and charge money for my services, if it weren’t for growing up in the environment my dad created.
My dad is also a big believer in the law of attraction, and putting out the vibration of what you want to create. He talks the talk, but he also walks it every single day. Having him as a role model has made me a more positive person, and a powerful manifestor. I am very grateful to have been mentored (and continue to be mentored) by such a wonderful man.
Jen, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
This is going to be a “woo woo” version of a marketing risk… but here it goes! A little over a year ago, I got the download that I should buy some crystal singing bowls and start hosting sound healings.
Some important things to note: I had only ever been to ONE sound healing in my life. I have a musical background, but at that point, I had never played a singing bowl for longer than 30 seconds at the end of a yoga class (not to mention multiple bowls and instruments at once for an hour or more). And there was the added fact that a basic set of singing bowls costs over $1000, which happened to be the exact amount of money I had to my name at the time. My first thoughts were “I can’t afford that” and “I don’t know how to host sound healings”, and I left it at that.
But the message and desire persisted. I decided to take the leap, spend all the money I had, and buy a full set of crystal singing bowls. The yoga studio I teach at put my first sound bath on their schedule. I had about 20 people show up. I STILL HAD NOT PLAYED LONGER THAN 20 MINUTES! I was super nervous. Luckily, my boyfriend was there to support me, and he told me to just “own it and act like I’ve done this a million times”… so that is what I did. It went wonderfully, and was so exhilarating! I was in love.
Cut to a year and a half later… the bowls have paid for themselves 20 times over, I’ve collected a myriad of other instruments, I host multiple sound baths a month, I have a handful of private clients, I just got hired to be the resident sound healer at a health clinic, and I have 47 five star reviews on Google. And I’m just getting started!
Sound healing is a passion I didn’t even know I had until I got that download and followed my intuition. Now I can’t imagine my life or business without it.
If you get intuitive guidance about something that scares and simultaneously excites you – follow it. You never know where it might take you.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
There is a book that I can NOT stop talking about. I buy it for all of my clients, and anyone I meet that struggles with money. The book is “It’s Not Your Money” by Tosha Silver. This book made me feel like a 5,000 ton weight was lifted off of my shoulders after reading just the first chapter. If you’re someone who struggles with how you feel about money, attracting more money into your life, or have had a weird relationship with money your whole life… please read this book.
Tosha takes you through a magical 8-week process where you get in touch with your inner child, understand where your money blocks come from, and lift the weight of “mine mine mine” and helps you to understand that money is in fact NOT yours, but an infinite universal energy.
My relationship with money has shifted dramatically, and I feel grateful for everything in my life. And those energies help me be MORE successful and attract more opportunities in my business every single day. I cannot recommend this book enough.
