Since the beginning of VIBING ON VINYL, I have been independently running my own website and its respective social platforms. Running everything by myself has allowed me to test the waters with different styles for Instagram and ideas of topics to write about without having to get permission from anyone. I’ve built up a following of over 700 on Instagram and over 1k on TikTok just by using my own creativity and judgement on what I think will perform well. For anyone looking to get into the world of music blogging/music journalism, I think establishing yourself on social platforms is important so people know what your mission/overall goal with posting is, whether it’s getting your music heard or simply sharing your favorite songs/artists/albums with people! I am all for calling in help, getting support, hiring a VA and building out a team because there are always a gazillion things on any online business owners to do list, but completely outsourcing your social media is not something I would ever recommend handing over, Read more>>

As cosplayers, most of us manage our own social medias. Sometimes it does get difficult for me when I should post because the algorithm for the social medias are sometimes hard to track. Choosing certain social media platform to showcase my cosplays has been trial and error because each are different. Figuring out which one can give you the most benefits and opportunities does take time but it has been a fun journey to figure it out. Currently, I’m managing my own social media, although the platform I focus on the most is Instagram. Since my business is still small, I don’t find that I need a social media manager. However, there are challenges with doing it yourself, mainly the fact that you have to hold yourself accountable when it comes to posting. I’ve noticed that when I schedule my posts out in advance, I’m more likely to feel productive with my socials and it helps me keep the momentum going. If you’re like me, a creative with ADHD, doing it this way helps a ton. If you’re a business owner thinking of managing your own socials, another good piece of advice I can give is to find an accountability buddy. Someone who can remind you to stay on top of things. Staying connected with people can help with your own self-discipline. Read more>>

I manage my own social media but I wish I knew a younger somebody that could manage my business pages. As an artist and designer, I find it difficult to put down my craft and pick up the entrepreneurial aspect. I solely made the choice of managing my own social media due to cost and time, but I’m pretty sure if I gave up that control to a professional my business would profit more. Read more>>

Embracing social media is a must – yet it seems to take more time than I was accustomed to (or wanted to dedicate to) for my business. I have learned that with so many opportunities available in the world of social media, the best thing I could do for my business was to hire someone I could trust. And i did, at least for a while. I hired an up and coming dynamic young lady whose passion for social media, coupled with her knowledge of algorithms and such was something I was truly not knowledgeable on nor had an desire to learn. She did a great job. She afforded me the opportunity to remain focused on other aspects of my business while she dedicated her time and shared her expertise to get my social media outlets running well. Read more>>
