We were lucky to catch up with Bondie Metchore recently and have shared our conversation below.
Bondie, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Many people will give you a million lists of the do’s and dont’s in business but in my experience and the experience of a lot of my clients what it really takes to be successful is a massive level of confidence and trust .
It almost doesn’t even matter what your trust is in as long as it is there.
Trust in yourself, in your product, in your mission, in the vision, in your ability, in your talent, in your skills, in a bigger calling in life, in God and the Universe operating on your behalf.
Having great trust in what we do and confidence that it will work out in the end no matter what is what keeps entrepreneurs going in the face of challenges and setbacks. It’s a inner motivation that can’t be learned and copied. It’s what makes us unstoppable.
The confidence that what we bring to the table and what we provide for our clients is not only worthy of compensation but also is of great value to their lives can be a determining factor in how we treat our business, the quality of work we do and even in the revenue that we successfully bring in every month.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a strategy business consultant and I own a digital marketing agency. I specialize in assisting small to medium businesses to get noticed off and online. My mission has always been to help entrepreneurs achieve great levels of success and to streamline the way they do things so that they can get from point A to point Z in the easiest, fastest, and most profitable way possible.
Since moving to the US from Costa Rica 7 years ago, I have been focused on helping clients bring their dreams to life. This is something that I’m passionate about.
I provide strategy and consulting services from brainstorming and analyzing business ideas for clients who want to start something new but don’t know what, creating a brand from scratch for new businesses, to growth strategy sessions for brands that have been operating for a while but are looking to expand.
And I also provide digital marketing services such as SEO, web design, video editing, podcast producing, etc.
I work with many clients at all levels of their entrepreneurial journey and in many different capacities.
I currently work with many local business owners in the DFW area but also have clients all over country and the world like Amanda Frances who is a world-renowned thought leader on financial empowerment for women and eight-figure global brand serving clients and students in 85 countries and I also work closely with The Dreamwork Collective, a publishing house that helps women in the United Emirates and the middle east publish their dream work in a place where women voices tend to be overlooked.
This work is my life.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I am a brown woman, single mom of two kids, in a foreing country, with no family close by and with a very strong latin accent. Any of the things I just mentioned, could have been a perfectly good reason for me to not even try to start my own business or to give up at any point but I decided very early on in my journey that I was here for a reason and that I wanted to be the exception to every rule.
What most people call challenges, I call motivation to keep going and to go bigger every time.
I knew that my calling to serve others in the fulfillment of their own dreams was going to open a way for me to support my kids and give them a beautiful life of opportunities and freedom while still having a mom who is present and available.
I truly believe that our God-given talents are meant to be discovered, developed and used to the max! The things that come natural to us should also be the things that support us financially. And serving others is my thing.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I have done many pivots throughout my life, one of them including leaving Costa Rica and moving to Texas which without a doubt was huge for me but one of the most memorable pivots that I have done was when I decided to start my digital marketing business.
I have a college degree in teaching of English so the most ‘non-techy’ career ever yet here I am. I remember one day so many years ago now, sitting on my kitchen table trying to figure out how to find a job that paid enough for my kids daycare and still leave some money for food and quickly realized that not only I had to go back to college to validate my degree and be able to work here in the US but also that I was basically going to work just to be able to afford childcare just to be able to go to work. Insanity! There had to be another way!
That’s when in a divine way the thought “Anyone who has a business needs a website! How do I make them?” and I proceeded to teach myself how to build websites from an online course that I paid $20 for and that was the very foundation of my business.
If something doesn’t feel right, trust that something better is waiting for you and trust that you will have your own back through the whole process.
