We were lucky to catch up with Joey Da’Mauro recently and have shared our conversation below.

Joey, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.

Well in 2019 I was living in Tampa Fl , I was so depressed living there. I just didn’t mesh well with the city. But It had always been a dream to move to California, to chase my dreams. Then one Monday morning I was watching TV and a. “Move to California “ add was on tv. So I said F—— it sold everything in my apartment and left by that Friday. No job just savings. Now I have 2 great running businesses. That was the biggest risk of my life.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

As a barber and entertainer it can be many things. Like When someone gets out of my chair and look at their hair and realize they love their hair. Or just to have a crowd of people just dying laughing at what you are saying is like a high for me. Just know rather of your in my chair for style or in it for the laughs. You’re going to leave being better than you was.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?

I would say between Groupon & Booksy it kept we righteous.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

When I first came to San Diego the pandemic happen there was no money to be made. So I use to go too peoples kick backs or BBQ. Take pictures and told them if they want these pictures follow me on ig. When they do I would give them there photos but when they see how dope they are they booked photo shoots. Then I puts my services on Groupon to advance to even more people.
