Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Curtis Bryant. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Curtis , appreciate you joining us today. It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
May 2022, God gave me a dream that showed me looking at the LAX airport sign. Now, I had only been to LA once and when I went, I was in a really depressive place. And so, I always connected the city to my depression. It was a place of trigger for me. But based on my dream, it was clear that God was calling me to revisit a place that I was avoiding.
The pandemic had slowed down some. People were back outside and traveling seemed possible again. And at the time, I was back home in New York and ready to go. I missed traveling. I missed socializing and seeing other people besides my brother everyday.
So in the month of October, I went on a 3 day road trip with $400 to my name and alongside someone I barely knew to the west coast. Her name is Shandrea and she and I took a trip that would change our lives forever. Two strangers on a road trip from Atlanta and Oakland, trusting a few visions and the guts to go after something bigger than themselves.
3 days and a couple of states later, we finally make it to the west coast. Living out of hotels and two nights in Shandrea’s car we grew closer. Still not knowing what was ahead. Shandrea began a new job and found a home. Me on the other hand, God was calling me back to the east coast.
A dream turned into a risk. a risk to turned to an adventure and this adventure was coming to an end for me. But not before an Amtrak and 2 weeks in LA later, I see the LAX sign as I make my way back to Atlanta.
The dream was fulfilled.

Curtis , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Curtis Bryant. I’am an Artist, Author and Life Coach originally from the Bronx. Currently based in Atlanta Georgia, I work as a full time photographer. Photography keeps my bills paid. But my skillset knows no boundaries. With a BFA in Communication Design, from Parsons New School for Design, I’ve created work and built brands as well as businesses in so many arenas.
No matter what the medium is, my work has been for the people. I create to inspire, even when I want to isolate. I create to build even when I don’t want to be bothered. My purpose and calling require my commitment and I show each time.
I’m grateful to everyone in my life, who nurtured my creative side as a child. And shout out to my parents for putting me in after school art classes!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As an entrepreneur, I had to pivot so many times. And I’m starting to believe that one of the greatest gifts and superpowers that comes with being your own boss, is the power of the pivot.
Not everyone wasn’t lucky to grow up with parents who reminded me often that I didn’t need to stay anywhere I wanted to be. So If I could be that affirming voice for anyone reading this, I want you to know, that you too have that same power. You can pivot right now. And I promise it will all work out in your favor.
It won’t be easy but you will be happier.

How did you build your audience on social media?
When it comes to building an audience on social media, my number rule is to be authentic. I know it’s cliche but despite what we see on social media, authenticity is the best tool anyone can use to build their brand. All you have to do is be consistent. which doesn’t mean post everyday but often. Secondly, still in the same vain as authenticity, post what you like. People want to see what excites and inspires you. Lastly, take breaks. The best ideas come from resting.
