My Hero would 100% be my aunt Terry. Sadly, we lost her earlier this summer. She worked hard all her life and fought very hard through Illness until the very end. I told her I was thinking of going to school to be a massage therapist. She always believed in me and helped me in any way possible. She would always check in with me and see how things were going. When I told her I was going to open my own business she was elated! I would I always go to her for advice or to vent. When I would tell her I had too busy of a week she would remind me how hard I worked to get here and “this is what I wanted.” Basically kind of tough love, but always more than proud of me. My mother is my hero and an extraordinary example of resilience as an Iranian woman who has continuously confronted and challenged patriarchy. At the age of thirteen, she was forced into marriage as a child bride to an older man, enduring an abusive relationship and domestic violence until she was able to divorce. Following her separation, she resisted immense societal pressure from her father and community to remarry quickly, holding her ground for twelve years until she met my father. During this time, she worked from home as a talented tailor, supporting herself and even her siblings. Through her example, I have learned the importance of fighting for my goals, understanding that being born and raised in a society structured by gender apartheid does not define who I am as a woman. Her journey is a testament to courage and determination. Read more>>

My grandmother and mother will forever be my hero’s. As scary as it was for them, they left everything behind in their home country of Honduras to create a better life for themselves in the United States. They have taught me that anything is possible and to turn all the no’s into yes’s. My mother is a 2 time breast cancer survivor who was recently diagnosed with cancer for the third time. She has faith that she will beat this once again and is the strongest person ever. She is my constant reminder to never give up on my dreams. Read more>>

Today, my graphic design work reflects that same energy and boldness, a testament to the profound influence Cole has had on my artistic journey. If he can push boundaries and ignite creativity in countless others, then I, too, am motivated to harness that inspiration and make my mark in the world. “Let’s embrace our passions and create something extraordinary.” – Cole Bennet Read more>>
