We asked some very thoughtful members of our community to reflect on what they’ve learned from their heroes.

I can’t pinpoint a singular “hero” that I strongly connect with, but there are definitely individuals that influence my vision of culture and artistic expression. A good family friend showed us a biopic a couple of years ago based around the life of Diana Vreeland. She was a columnist and editor, primarily known for her work in Harper’s Bazaar and Vogue. Her vision, energy and life were very influential to me, especially since I was around 14 at the time and easily impressed. I remember how I felt like our lives had somehow correlated, and she understood the intricacies of being an artistic force, rather than just existing within the confines of one medium. Read more>>

When it comes to heroes I’m blessed to have 2 genuine people who have been with me through most of my career I appreciate the support and lessons they’ve taught me along the way. Not only heroes but great friends of mine and they’re Sachem Dahn & David Kromah. I learned more on the creative and fashionable aspect from Sachie the ability to be comfortable with your own swag and also expressing your creativity without restrictions. I learned more on the business and customer service side from from David (DK Shoots) he helped me get comfortable with studio and commercial work along with understanding lighting and retouching. As the old adage goes, “you learn something new every day” well, as a parent, I’d be remiss to think that the seeds we plant & water come into fruition that very same day… Good things take time after all! As I reflect, there was a plethora of lessons I learned during my journey through childhood and adolescence. Those lessons had a vast array of influence over my adulthood life. In my humbled opinion, some lessons can’t be taught, they must be experienced! Well, I’ve experienced an abundant amount of lessons which taught me the principles of cause and effect.
