We asked some very talented folks to tell us about the most innovative thing they’ve done in their career.

As a graphic designer, I am able to create others visions as well as my own. When clients come to me about a design they need I am very detailed in getting the specifics. I have had clients come to me without a vision, which has allowed me and my creativity to soar. I live for those clients because the creativity is limitless and they are always beyond satisfied, as well am I. Read more>>

I would say, one of the most innovative things we have done as a company, was opening as a traveling bridal shop. We had not seen it done before and wanted to find a new way of shopping for your wedding dress. Lindsay and I dreamt up the idea while shopping for our own wedding dresses and created Runaway Bridal based off of what we loved and didn’t love about our own experiences. We wanted something fun, special, and comfortable. I ordered a few wedding dresses online, had friends and family over, and had a bridal fitting in my living room! It was so much fun but my options were limited and I had little guidance without a stylist there. Read more>>

In the recent years I’ve been able to successfully merge Trap & R&B into my own Club Music, it started with remixing different songs and wanting to give different feels. This has also allowed me to have a different approach when making music as well, different melodies, flow, and baselines play in my head daily. My most recent highlight example of this would be my most recent club project “Sorry4The8 – 3” which is perfect mix of trap sounds, r&b sounds, and club based sound, also this project was featured on Bandcamp’s “Best Club Music Of May/June”. I’m a multifaceted artist who understands the power of symbolism. Incorporating symbolism with herbs has given me the capability and potential to enhance holistic healing. Infusing the elements and symbols into wellness essentials at Tribe of Dex makes a difference in the impact that these herbs will have. For example, I like to play music that sends out a certain frequency while a few of my favorite incense are being burned or essential oils are being diffused. This introduces the principle of vibration and aromatherapy into the equation, transforming the overall vibration of the experience! Read more>>

As a nurse, I believe I’ve had many opportunities to try new things along the path of my career. That’s one of the wonderful things about nursing–the many directions one can go. When I first finished school, I went to live and work in two pediatric hospitals in Ireland, and I did so on and off for five years. Other opportunities included travel and working across this country, working as a union organizer, developing a care plan system to be tested for computers, managing the nursing computer systems in two hospitals when health care first ventured into computerization, and finally, my writing. Innovation is definitely required on all levels, whether it’s within smaller decisions that all add up to the big picture or with a bigger idea you’ve had an executed. The most innovative thing I’ve done so far is come up with, develop and execute OuiShopp App. I naturally noticed a huge missing piece to online shopping – the ability to shop together with friends online. Previously, we used to all go on shopping sprees with friends and family to go shopping at the mall or in boutiques. However, with the huge shift into ecommerce, in-person shopping is no longer a first choice and most people have friends and family spread out geographically. Read more>>

When I was a teenager, I had a period where I was enthralled by all things 1970s. The television shows, fashion, music, and anything pertinent to the culture of that era. During this phase, I fell in love with shows like The Partridge Family and began daydreaming about being able to record in a studio setting. So I started to learn more about equipment, software, and found that in addition to my love of music, I was also passionate about the science behind recording and then mixing music. Read more>>

I believe innovation always begins internally. It’s the Universal Law of Cause and Effect. We are the cause for the effects we see and experience in our external world. Often times, innovation is counter-intuitive. We think we have to go fast, hustle, 10x it all…those things usually deplete energy. After I semi retired as a classical musician, I opened a yoga studio in Grosse Pointe, MI. I loved that studio and the clients. After 3 months, I realized I needed guidance, so I told my staff I was going to India to study for a few weeks. It seemed like the worst idea, to leave a new business at that time. Read more>>
