Kindness begets kindness. So, wanted to create a space to share and amplify stories of kindness with the hope that it inspires a chain reaction.
Nadia Bautista

My name is Nadia Bautista and I have been a photographer for about 13 years.
I started this path by taking digital photos and publishing them on a social network called Flickr. At that time it was the most popular way to share your work and get feedback from different people around the world. I can say that thanks to this social network, today I have great friends from different parts of the world. Read more>>

I’ve wanted to design clothing since I was little and I started sewing and making clothes in middle school. Once I got to high school and started doing photoshoot events and runway shows I got advice from other designers what things I needed (or didn’t need) to continue growing. One thing I needed was a serger but it wasn’t something my family could afford. One day I was at my best friend’s house and his grandmother gave me her old serger along with a box of cone thread in practically every color. A start up like that would have cost me hundreds of dollars. There was no way for her to know it was something I had been wanting and she was just excited to have someone to give it to who would use it. I still have the serger even though it isn’t in use any more and I still have yet to go through half the thread she gave me. I wouldn’t be where I am now without what she did for me and I’m forever grateful for that. Read more>>

Throughout my life, people of all walks of life have done kind things for me. Whether it was my parents dropping me off at a school dance and waiting for my call to come pick me up, or a simple compliment on a somewhat bad day, people have shown small acts of kindness in many different ways. This story of kindness is recent and serves as a constant reminder to myself to have the same belief in myself that this person shares with the world. Read more>>

It’s hard not to attribute my entire career to the kindness of others. (And a bit of luck, of course.) I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without the gift of kindness from more people than I can count.
When I started my brand, my (now) husband and I had just moved in with my parents a few months prior. I had been working as a freelance illustrator for a little over a year, and I was barely scraping by on freelancing earnings. Moving in with my parents was an incredible gift that allowed me to slow down my freelance grind and assess what I actually wanted to do as an illustrator. I had this risky and ridiculous idea for selling semi-erotic illustrated silk scarves, and free housing gave me the financial security I needed to take that risk. Without that kindness, it’s unlikely that I would have started my company. Read more>>

I’m really grateful to the one family in Torrance for saving me in their home for a few days.
I have been studying abroad in LA since the end of last April to learn dance and English.
In this January, I had lived in Hollywood during this wildfires.
“I can see the mountains burning from our house!”
This words from my roommate woke me up from a nap.
It was the fire of Hollywood Hills. Read more>>

When I launched the business pricing was a real challenge. In digital marketing anyone can hang out a shingle and offer services. Which is one of the great things about it, the low barrier to entry of starting your own business. The downside is there is no governing body or set pricing structure. As a result, I ended up trying to research the range of prices based on what is being offered, the provider’s level of experience, etc. but I knew my pricing still wasn’t right. I mean for the “same service” you can be charged $100 to several thousand dollars a month. My first attempt to find a business mentor was an awful experience, I was introduced via email to a woman running a digital marketing agency here locally. She wrote back to me and asked why she would ever help create her own competition. It was really discouraging. Read more>>
