Kindness begets kindness. So, wanted to create a space to share and amplify stories of kindness with the hope that it inspires a chain reaction.

In my lifetime, I have had many kind things happen to me and I’m grateful for that. One recent summer event, a cake melted in my car!!!!! I like to offer as many services to my clients as I can, so I offer to pick up and deliver cakes for parties, and I felt confident doing it. Recently, a beautiful, very special, very expensive graduation cake melted in my car in this Louisiana heat. I honestly should’ve known better and should’ve had it delivered, but it was five minutes from my house, and an hour from my client, so I thought it was a no-brainer. I can’t explain the feeling I had when I opened my car and saw the cake, BUT IT WAS AWFUL. I immediately called Hope at Bae’s Bakery in Gretna and asked her to save the day, and she did. Read more>>

Growing up in the mid-80s, my world was a bleak canvas painted with shades of gray. Born into a life marred by crime and poverty, the vibrant colors of happiness and success I saw on TV screens seemed forever out of reach. Our home, if you could call it that, was a rundown apartment in a neighborhood where survival was the only goal. My parents were never around, lost in their own struggles, leaving my aging grandmother as my sole guardian. Read more>>

Connecting with people, new and old, has always been something I have enjoyed and not shied away from. I learned from a young age that people can come and go in our lives with the relationships lasting a short amount of time or a lifetime. No matter the length, the relationships serve a purpose and teach us something. Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me was give me a chance before I had any credibility. Breaking into the film industry is a catch-22: you can’t get a job until you’ve had a job. Well, my first paid job was filming my middle school classmate’s bat mitzvah. Her parents took a chance on me because they saw how passionate and hungry I was to become a professional filmmaker. I earned $300 for one day of filming, but what I really gained was the start of my career. Read more>>

Having the support and encouragement from experienced industry artists has been the greatest gift. From advice and resources to a consistent confidence towards me and my work, I’m continually sustained by this generous outpouring from mentors (without whom I’d be incredibly lost.) I remember one showering me with encouragement ad nauseam when I was at my most insecure, and it was only when I believed what he had to say did I actually begin taking my craft seriously and find myself moving forward. I have been a full-time practicing architect designing commercial and healthcare projects for about 26 years. About 10 years ago, I was involved in the design of a hospital chapel for one of my healthcare clients, a place of quiet respite for patients and their families during a stressful time. The chapel project required the procurement of a custom stained glass window. My client had hired a local art consulting firm to vet some potential stained glass artists, guide in the artwork selection process and install the final product. Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is giving me trust. This trust has come from many places—my family, my clients, and all those who have supported my journey as an artist. My mother, father, and sister have been my pillars from the beginning, offering love and encouragement that allowed me to continue expressing myself through my art. I feel deeply blessed and grateful to have them by my side. Read more>>

I am mega fortunate to have the kindest family and friend group on the planet so it’s hard to narrow it down to one thing, but this story always makes me smile. One year, when I was a sixth grade teacher, I would joke with my students about eating their chicken wings if they brought some for lunch because that was my favorite food. I’d say silly stuff like “you better keep an eye on those wings or they might disappear when you’re not looking!” or I’d offer to trade a single chip for all of their wings and pretend to be upset when they’d decline the trade ha ha! In 2018, I was in a really dark place. I was unfulfilled at my 9-5 and I really wanted to quit because I wanted to be somewhere else holding a camera or looking into one instead I was selling cars. An angel in person of my best friend noticed this and encouraged me to take the leap and leave but I was too scared of starting afresh and potentially being broke. This angel gave me a soft landing. She added me to her company’s payroll and gifted me a Canon digital camera. That’s how my journey into Nollywood began. Read more>>
