Kindness begets kindness. So, wanted to create a space to share and amplify stories of kindness with the hope that it inspires a chain reaction.

Kindness is what’s keeping me going these days. The world is cruel and just because you give good doesn’t mean you get it back. I have two people who have shown me kindness this year in ways never done for me before. One of my favorite humans had a dress made for me by famed dress designer Maria Harper. Another great human uplifts and encourages me. She shared her wisdom and experience with me. when I was going through the lows of life and entrepreneurship. She believed in me when I didn’t believe in me. She felt my joy and passion for helping people love themselves and wouldn’t let me quit. Read more>>

A few years ago, I was in a dark place mentally and spiritually, and I had convinced myself that I was giving up on singing as well as pursuing being an artist. I literally said “I’m done”! The very next day I received a message on fb messenger from someone I’ve known for some years. We’ve only communicated in passing, at certain social events, and I hung out once at her house. When I moved to a new city in 2018, I was struggling financially. Several days after I had signed the lease to my apartment, I was let go from my job. I was living in a new area and my professional network wasn’t easily accessible. I began networking and was eventually referred to Saundra Davis, the Founder and Executive Director of Sage Financial Solutions. Saundra, is a very busy woman and agreed to meet with me over coffee. Though there are many instances to which kindness was bestowed upon me, one story in particular stands out for a lot of reasons. Early in my writing career, after I’d published my book, I meet Henry Cavill, the inspiration of the main character, at the New York Comic Con. He was very kind but I couldn’t find the words to express that I wanted for him to have a copy of my work (admittedly not ready for that kind of notoriety but you can’t blame a girl for trying). To no avail could I voice it to the man who had me star-struck for no reason at all other than being a true gem in person. Read more>>

It’s about my former boss – one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. She didn’t just help me out during work but also when I was applying for the job. This happened during COVID. I had interviewed with her, and I was waiting for the results. Surprisingly, she gave me tips on my resume, telling me how to make it better before sending it to the big bosses. I was just someone applying, and she didn’t have to do that. She could’ve just sent my resume as is, and they might’ve said no. But she cared about my qualifications more than how they looked on paper. It might sound simple to her, but it was a huge deal for me. She knew I really wanted this job, and she helped me out. I was at a crossroads in my life. My background was in freelance writing, public relations, advertising and marketing. I had fulfilled a marketing goal at a retirement center six months ahead of schedule. As a “thank you”, they laid me off. I was looking for work in similar fields but my passion was teaching yoga and meditation. This was 1996 and yoga was not popular in Erie, Pa. There were few teachers and no one was certified. I wanted to go to a residential training but didn’t have the resources. I landed an interview for the position of marketing director with the president of a new community college. An hour into the interview, he asked, “You are qualified to be my director but are you passionate about it? If not, what are you passionate about?” Read more>>

One of the kindest things someone has done for me, was being recognized for all of my hard work as a DJ at the “Dreams do come true Brunch”. That year me and my fellow Dj sister MK was recognized because we both recently, at the time experienced losing our parent/parents, and still managed to be strong and to keep pushing forward. Do yo be recognized and receiving our flowers was such an amazing feeling. Read more>>

Let me preface this conversation with the fact that it brings my heart delight that you all have chosen the word kind versus nice. To many there is not a distinct difference…oh but there is! Nice is the inward projection for self and kind is an outward projection for others. The kindest thing anyone has done for me was to believe in me when I was incapable of believing in myself! I would say that, as a business owner, the kindest thing someone has done for me is respecting my time. That might sound strange to say because I like to believe that we all want to be conscious of others’ time and do our best to be mindful of the time of day or year in relation to that. However, I have colleagues whose clients, business partners, or employers have no concerns about contacting them at any time of day or night, expecting a response. Read more>>

The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is giving me a chance. It’s really hard to get a shot at dancing in a small community and one of my close friends saw that I was struggling to keep counts and get get the beat. She took a chance on me and spent a lot of time mentoring me on how to get better. I took a chance on myself when I couldn’t get a job teaching social and emotional trauma informed care to adults and children and started my own non profit being able to teach others the benefits of emotional health and physical health. The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is believe that I am capable of good and great endeavors. There is a catalog of people that I could fill out and tell you how me met, how they inspired me, and how they presented me with a new opportunity or a new challenge. At the Area Career Center I attended in high school, and throughout my college years, I was fortunate that my instructors Allen Bild and Derek Bodley invested into my curiosity with Culinary Arts as young and eager lad.
