Kindness begets kindness. So, wanted to create a space to share and amplify stories of kindness with the hope that it inspires a chain reaction.

Be apart of my success and career! Having Genuine people who believes in you, your career, your vision and more is the best feeling ever. I am so use to doing so many things in my own and literally started out by myself with no help. No support, no team, no management, no PR, no family support, no finances, but the MAIN one i had was GOD. He has NEVER left my side not even now and i am very grateful. It takes a village to help you build and stay focus on your journey in life. I knew i couldn’t do it alone, but being alone pushed me even further to want more and not look for shy handouts. It taught me a valuable lesson on not looking for things when God will send you everything you need during your process if you remain faithful. So yes, HELP was very thoughtful when the right people came on board. Read more>>

I truly consider all of my music families to be an extension of my actual family. Spending so much time with students every week for years naturally brings you close and invested in championing and cheerleading their future. Because of that, what means the most is the love and support shown to me in challenging times. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely love to receive gifts of jewelry or gift cards to local spots or beautiful handwritten cards that I treasure but what I am most grateful for is the support and love that this musical family I have created shows me when times are tough. The kindest thing anyone who has ever done for me has to be believing in me. It is one of the most powerful actions you can do for someone else and for yourself. As for someone who is extremely self-assured and creative at my core, even I face moments of doubt or stagnation. Words of encouragement have always uplifted me and reminded me of my power. To give an in-depth example, when I found out I was selected to be interviewed by Canvas Rebel, I was ecstatic and felt that this career path I’ve been paving for myself has been falling in alignment. In addition, this opportunity would create an abundance of network and career opportunities. However, the one thing I lacked was the belief that I deserved it. Read more>>

I have been fortunate to have had a great many people do me innumerable kindnesses over my career and lifetime, so I’m going to take the superlative out of the question. I don’t know that what I’m going to describe is the “kindest,” but there are is a time that springs to my mind as a moment of incredible and important kindness. It occurred at a time when I was still struggling fiercely to make ends meet financially (which, to be clear, was true through solidly the first 10 years of my career). I always had enough to live, but barely, and any unexpected expense always stood fatally jeopardize my teetering balance. Read more>>

I’ve worked for many people over the years, whether it be for other companies, or as a contracted specialist. Each of my “bosses” have left an impression, and each for different reasons. However, one of the most impactful moments of my entire working life came with my first contracted position. Up to that point I had been working as an hourly employee, so I didn’t understand how to properly manage my income as a contractor. Before I that job, I was working a commission-based job where I brought home a pretty penny, and like the material girl I was, I quickly spent it. Read more>>

In 2020, I was chosen to perform during the 2020 United Solo Festival . The plan was to tour my one-woman play ‘PTSD and ME’ across the US before the NY performance so I could break myself and the play in. But COVID-19 happened, and the show was cancelled. But even before the cancellation news, things were already set to derail. I had to cancel my rehearsals with my acting coach and travel back to GA to take custody of my months old nephew that June. Life from then on started taking place and all the work I’d done to prep for NY was flying out of the door. Read more>>

Years ago, I had a friend named Tovares. In that moment in time, we became close. He began to notice the struggles I went through as a single mother at the time. Shortly after, he began offering his help. I was so hesitant at first. Until one day I had no other option, but to swallow my pride & give in to his offer. As soon as I asked him for help, he helped me with everything I needed. Food, a few bills, and even things for my son who was a baby at the time. He would even give me rides to and from work every once in a while, so I wouldn’t have to walk. He did all this, until I felt I was ok to do it on my own again. It may have been only a few weeks, but to me it felt like years. Read more>>

When I launched my business, Pieces Of Us By Us, I was let go from my job due to Covid and had to self-fund the business. I spent the summer ordering samples and trying designs. Designs were ready, samples made and tested, and the manufacturer was ready and waiting for the go-ahead. Funding was needed to complete production and launch my goal of starting a business that makes puzzles of Black Art by Black Artists. We used the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform to raise the money needed to start production. My campaign was live for 45 days, and on the last day of the Kickstarter, I was short about $1000. It’s crazy because this is something that I’ve been wanting to speak on for a while now. I recently found myself wanting to fully immerse myself into my craft, learning every technical aspect to being able to explain my curiosity. I kind of created an opportunity to work at Vision Lights Studio; I had been shooting there for a while now & thought why not ask & see if it’d be cool to be kind of an “understudy” per se. So, I asked & the owners were so welcoming & graceful & a question was asked & I quote “what’re you looking to get out of working here” & it was simple to be one of the best in my craft. Read more>>

I’ve been blessed to have incredible people around me my whole life so it’s hard for me to narrow the single most kindest thing someone has done for me.. But one moment that always stuck with me is being given a keyboard from a family friend; Aunty Mel. My mom had always exposed us to a variety of creative outlets growing up. That being said, when I was much younger we had a keyboard in our home, but before I had actually taken a real interest in learning I think it died or something. When I was 14 I gained a whole new interest because I was hearing piano songs and thinking man I want to be able to play that. I grew up in the church, so every week I’d go and spend most of my time playing the piano there. Read more>>
