We asked some of the brightest and most thoughtful entrepreneurs, artists and creatives in the community to tell us about something they believe that most people in their space disagree with and we’ve shared highlights below.

Many people believe the path to success is linear. The mindset starts in grade school–you follow a set curriculum, pass standardized tests, apply for college, choose your major (probably before you fully understand all the available careers out there), graduate, gain an entry-level job, and move your way up to the top of the company before retirement. Most people in my industry disagree with how important the feminine energy is to everyone’s healing journey. Whenever I meet someone new, rather that is a client or stranger off of the street, I ask them if they know exactly where their life is headed. 9/10 they are always responding with, I dunno. I just go to work and come home. I then like to say, that isn’t surprising because your not allowing your feminine energy to speak. Read more>>

In this industry today, I believe most people believe you must have the “look” that gets the job done. As a singer/songwriter I feel immensely it should be more about the words and the story being told. A raw talent on and off screen when it comes to vocal abilities, lyricism, and most importantly the desire of creating to inspire and impact a cause needing attention. The narrative used to be music was created for healing and a reflection of a mood heard around the world. Now it’s a popularity contest between individuals on who’s the best. Read more>>

Having visible abs are overrated. I see so many Personal Trainers and online trainers put such a huge focus on getting as lean as possible, Trying to create the perfect physique. While it’s obvious that obesity is an issue in our country- I think the focus needs to be shifted towards encouraging and empowering people to accomplish physical goals. Many people in our industry also lack true transparency. We try to hold up this personification of someone who makes healthy choices and lives a ‘clean living’ lifestyle with every decision we make. That isn’t the case for myself. I’ll take a beer and burger any day. Read more>>

This is a controversial belief, but I am convinced that the way society sees beauty is all wrong. Beauty is not about being cosmetically flawless. It certainly isn’t about having pride in being or looking a certain way. Beauty exists in all things regardless of our own thoughts or interpretations of them. Condemned buildings contain a sense of wonder and intrigue; newly erected high-rise buildings have a sense of pristine and luxury. Read more>>

One thing I agree with that most in my industry doesn’t agree with is, not chasing after people in order to have purpose. What I mean by this statement is, many believe that purpose is in people; though God can and absolutely will use people for purpose; Ultimately, I have found God to be more reliable than people. I believe that you do not have to stay on social trends to be and remain relevant. In my industry – there is a high demand for those who spend every waking minute and hour on creating content, interacting with their timelines and staying on top of the latest trends; i.e. what the masses are doing is considered ONLY what the people want to see. In my experience and current success, I believe that it is helpful to relate to your market through social trends; Read more>>

For people dealing with thinning hair or baldness, that it’s an embarrassment and it’s shamed upon to wear a hair system. It saddens me that it’s something people make fun of other people for having thinning or no hair at all. Hair systems have come and gone since as early as 3000 B.C. Read more>>

Interesting question, which I’d like to answer from a general standpoint. A strong belief I possess that is made and often times disagreed with is- NO ONE CAN MAKE IT ALONE. By “Making It Alone” I mean that within every success story there is some person, place, or thing that contributed to it. In today’s times it seems the “One Man Army” mentality is wide spread. Generally speaking, it feels as though it has been normalized to only think of one’s self with little to no regards for another. Self love is very important I will say, but it doesn’t excuse us from having love and compassion for others. Read more>>
