When times are good it’s easy to feel like entrepreneurship is the only path for you, but what about the times when your hit with multiple crises at once? We wondered if all entrepreneurs have moments when they wonder whether they should have gone with (or stuck to) a more standard job where they worked for someone else.

I’m not just happy. I’m fulfilled. I worked in marketing for almost ten years. It wasn’t a bad job at all. In fact, I really loved it, especially because of the people and the creativity involved in the role (which actually helped me a lot in building my own business). My team felt like family, and some of them are still close friends today. That sense of connection and support was a big part of what kept me going for as long as I did. Read More>>

My answer to this question tends to vary each day. Sometimes, it’s hard to say. With the more difficult days, I wonder if this was the correct route to take. It can be hard to juggle being a business owner with your other responsibilities. I am very much happy as a business owner. I worked very hard for other people. I always felt like I was being taken advantage of, and I wanted to take control of my life. I was tired of being bullied by employers. I was tired of dealing with people that just seemed controlling and abusing their power as a boss.. I was impaired to open my own business, and the fear had left me when I realized that my story is much better if I gave this a chance. I’m not afraid of failure. Read More>>

Yes, I’m happy as a business owner and yes, I have wondered what it would have been like if I had stayed with ‘normie’ jobs. I’ve been a sole proprietor in Washington State as a licensed massage therapist since 1992 but before that, I worked as a production-graphic artist and arts store manager in Kansas City. I moved to Seattle in 1985 and worked in customer service for a large graphics company and selling artist materials for Daniel Smith, Inc. While I enjoyed these jobs I wanted to work for myself so I could pursue my own creative goals. Read More>>

Yes, I honestly enjoy being a business owner. I prefer it over working a regular job. It just fits who I am. I’ve worked a typical 9 to 5 before, but it never felt natural to me. I always felt boxed in, like I wasn’t really living my life, just going through the motions. I don’t belong in that world. I’ve never seen myself staying in a job long-term when I know I can build something around what I’m passionate about instead. Read More>>
