When times are good it’s easy to feel like entrepreneurship is the only path for you, but what about the times when your hit with multiple crises at once? We wondered if all entrepreneurs have moments when they wonder whether they should have gone with (or stuck to) a more standard job where they worked for someone else.

As a business owner and entrepreneur, I can wholeheartedly say that I am completely happy with my decision to be my own boss. At times, the thought of having a regular job and remembering how it felt to work for someone else or a large chain seems like it’s so much easier.. There isn’t as much pressure and you don’t feel so alone. Having your own business can be risky and if (heaven forbid) something does go wrong, there is no one else to point the finger at but yourself. Read more>>

When I worked for a company or freelance job, I didn’t have to pay much attention to the incidental things once I did my job faithfully. I was in a position to care for trees, not forests, so I was able to focus more on my personal life after finishing my work. In other words, I had the capacity to devote my energy and care about every little thing. Read more>>

Sometimes. I honestly feel like quitting every other week, you see I am an over-thinker when something isn’t going as planned my anxiety gets the best of me but I am no quitter. There’s a lot that goes into being a business owner whether it’s big or small. From sales, inventory, to customer service, etc when I feel like I am finally profiting something comes up. Read more>>

Absolutely happy to the max! As a “business owner” who doesnʻt really own the business….. its more so my parents that sill have ownership. I am more of the “face” in terms of social media, marketing, craft fairs, wholesales. My parents have been running our small business – Koa Kards since 1996….which is older than me! Prior to my involvement in Koa Kards, I was living in my college town (Hilo) working 3 jobs. 3 jobs before the age of 25…..why? for what? Read more>>

I am happy as a business owner because that’s where I am most myself. I have had a regular job and I do take on regular jobs sometimes when I want to hone my research skills but my business will always be a priority to me. It has afforded me the most growth within myself and it is rewarding to see my ideas come to life and work for someone else. The last time I went for a full time job I did get it and then I got laid off right before christmas. Read more>>

Absolutely! , I say it is the best decision I ever made during the pandemic. The greatest part of my journey , is getting to experience both sides of the spectrum. I actually still have a 9 to 5 working in a Dr. Office while balancing my lipgloss business/ creating natural hair content and I’ve also started dipping into new content as well!. I film on weekends and edit / post at least 24 hrs prior to when I post , I’ve posted content while on lunch . Read more>>

I think happiness is a complicated feeling and one that many business owners, especially new business owners, likely juggle with. Is there a fulfillment in starting, owning, grinding, and pursuing one’s interests and passions? Absolutely, for sure. Does it require an incredible amount of discipline, responsibility, and perseverance to build, maintain, and grow? 1,000%. I think that happiness comes in the unexpected moments. Read more>>

This question comes up a lot for me. As a stay at home parent, there is so much appeal to being out in the workforce and communicating with other like-minded adults. At the same time, you have to consider the cost of childcare, time off and making your own schedule. The last time this thought popped into my head, it was December. I was swamped in cookies, as tired as I’ve ever been and questioning why in the world I was subjecting myself to this workload. The thoughts of being able to clock out are suddenly very desirable. Not only do I own a business as Vibez and Vision is partial year which I consider seasonal but I work full time as well. Being a business owner is hard work, people say all the time I hate working for people it’s so much work we’ll try working for yourself lol. It takes more discipline because if you don’t get it done who will? You work harder as an entrepreneur long days and sleepless nights. Read more>>

I LOVE being a business owner. Running my own business comes so natural to me – from connecting with others, to admin work, organizing, dreaming, and planning; i thriveeee. I truly don’t know what I would be doing if it weren’t this. I see so much potential in growth, and in freedom with my creativity. I am so thankful to get to call this my job! Read more>>

Most recently the thoughts of having ‘just a regular job’ happened this past October and November when one of my businesses came under attack by Christofascist ‘pastors’ and the ‘proud boys’. The Anti-Defamation League called due to ‘chatter’ that they’d picked up. Previously, a couple of ‘pastors’ who lean so far to the right that they’re more fascist than Christian had been targeting us over a charity bingo that we’ve hosted for several years… Read more>>
