When we go on short trips we often know exactly what we expect at the end, but when it comes to our lives and careers we’ve seen far too often we shy away from really thinking through where we expect to be at the end and what we hope our legacy will be. So, we wanted to encourage conversations on the topic of legacy and you’ll find highlights from our conversation from some wonderful members of the business and creative community below.

Wow, hitting with the hard questions right out of the gate! There’s so much weight behind the word “legacy;” it just feels a little daunting, like I need to give an answer like “world peace” or it won’t be good enough. But in reality, when I break my “legacy” down to what I hope my kids tell their kids about me, I hope that they remember that I paused to find the beauty in the simple moments of life. That I never lost my sense of whimsy. I hope I leave a trail of people behind me that see colors a little brighter, their families more beautifully (even through the imperfection,) and that stop to sniff the proverbial (or literal) roses. I hope they remember me as someone that cherished and encouraged creativity, in whatever form that may present itself. I hope they describe me as a “dreamer” and a “doer,” all wrapped in one. Not only do I hope to leave Plane Jane to a like-minded nephew or niece,, but I most want to instill in my customers and family the spirit of curiosity and the thrill of exploring new places. My nephews and niece do not see my social media coverage of my trips, but I try to set aside individual trips to make memories, bond with them, and hope the travel bug will bite them too. For the people that do see my social media coverage, I want to leave a similar legacy. I want them to know that “There’s more to life” is not just a catchphrase to me. It’s a meditation and reminder to live NOW. Do not wait for retirement or for the kids to grow up. Life will literally pass you by, theres no guarantee you will make it to retirement and your kids will be fine with a sitter or family member. Live in the present. Read more>>
Mr. Yottaa

YOTTA by definition is the largest form of measurement excluding infinity. We keep this in mind with everything we do to ensure that we set the bar. In the beginning we started out as a clothing brand, then expanded to offering studio services, and now we even produce our very own podcast, “YOTTATALK”. With each and every one of these ventures our main focus was and still remains to be creating a distinguishable level of quality, care, and influence that is attached to our brand. I hope and believe that our legacy will be carried on through our name, products, and most importantly the people who have been inspired by our brand to set the bar in their own respective fields and in their everyday life. I want to build a legacy centered around transforming Kansas City’s real estate landscape, particularly in the realm of housing for the underserved and unhoused. I want to be remembered as someone who was dedicated to creating positive change in the community, leaving behind a tangible impact that extends beyond my lifetime. My goal is to be recognized as a catalyst for improvement in housing conditions, specifically by addressing the challenges of vacant houses and homelessness. I envision people saying that I was instrumental in bridging the gap between the housing community and those who are most in need. Read more>>

We hope we have built a legacy of simply loving God and loving people. When we are gone we think people will say they saw the love of Jesus through our lives. That we were helpers one to the other. That we love our family very much and were close knit. That wet loved the faith community and our community as a whole. Hopefully they will say we are Providers of opportunities to people through food resources, mentoring and employment. Read more>>

That’s such a difficult question to answer…but the first thing that comes to mind is impact. The possible impact that I made to those around me albeit by my art or just everyday interactions. I always wanted to convey emotion into the pictures that I take, so my hope would be that those images will live and that in any time or place when you see them, it stirs something in you, whether it’s good or bad. The legacy I hope to build is one that tells the story of a woman who accomplished a lot in her life while maintaining integrity, compassion and empathy for the human experience. A legacy built on hard work, creativity, drive and resilience. A person who served her country in various and meaningful ways. From the military to civilian life and maintained the core mantra of the Navy, Honor, Courage and Commitment. I hope my legacy shows my children and others that kindness counts and working towards your goals no matter the difficulty, can lead down beautiful roads filled with sunshine and better days. I hope my legacy is a teacher to those seeking to learn the realness , the grit and the reward of an authentic journey. Read more>>

I am hoping to build a community of interesting people who are not only provided with real NY style pizza but a sense of belonging in the old style of running a restaurant where the people serving you know you by your first name. I hope people will say that Esco’s Pizza on La Brea Ave. is a staple in Los Angeles, and that it’s about more than pizza. I hope to be remembered for not only serving authentic NY slices but for providing a slice of humanity over the counter sharing genuine love for my customers. Read more>>

I am building a legacy of love. I desire to inspire people to remember and embody their true essence as a soul and be vessels for unconditional love. I grew up in the bible belt of the South and I was raised in a Christian community where belief was strong. After leaving home and traveling the world I recognized the underlying Truth behind multiple ways of living and being so now I am committed to moving beyond belief based or orthodox religion and myth and expanding into knowing based on direct revelation of the divine source.
