When we go on short trips we often know exactly what we expect at the end, but when it comes to our lives and careers we’ve seen far too often we shy away from really thinking through where we expect to be at the end and what we hope our legacy will be. So, we wanted to encourage conversations on the topic of legacy and you’ll find highlights from our conversation from some wonderful members of the business and creative community below.

The kind of legacy that I am building is to inspire those who look like me or come from similar backgrounds to strive for their dreams and never let anything or anyone get in their way to do so. That you can leave a positive impact on this world long as you believe in yourself and what you are doing. After I’m gone I think people will say that no matter the circumstances or problems I had in my life I found a way to overcome them and continue to pursue my goals. That I gave all that I could and put my heart and soul behind my work and into my family. I hope to be remembered as courageous, bright, and all around great human being that helped reshape the community I was raised in, as well as left a impact on this planet that change the world for the better. That I was able to start Luv Mylk on my own and build it to heights that took it from San Diego, California to around the whole world. Read more>>

Every morning, when I get out of bed, I know that I will spend my day working to make the world better. To be precise, I think of that in terms of my faith, “I’m helping the world reflect the Kingdom of God today.” For me, that means finding broken parts of the world, of human civilization, and helping to fix those broken things. My ultimate goal is to leave a lasting legacy for my sons through my real estate business. I want them to inherit not just tangible assets but also the values and principles that have guided me throughout my entrepreneurial journey. By building a successful real estate portfolio, I hope to provide them with a strong foundation for their future, empowering them to continue expanding and growing the business. I want my sons to remember me as a dedicated mother who defied societal expectations, achieving financial independence and creating opportunities for our family. Most importantly, I aspire for my legacy to inspire them to pursue their dreams fearlessly, while always valuing hard work, integrity, and the power of investing in real estate. Read more>>

A friend of mine once told me that when you are getting ready to make certain (big) changes in your career and/or life, think about what people will say at your funeral. Since then, I have been struck by that thought/concept. Though death or dying is not a topic that I like to think about very much, I hope that whatever legacy I leave behind is one that makes everything that I touched a little bit better. Read more>>

When I think of building a legacy, I can’t help but think of billionaires or CEOs of big, successful companies. However, the truth is, I’m just a small fish in the big pond of event planning. I have a dream of leaving behind a legacy in my children and this industry. I hope that my children will always say that I lead by example. I found my dream, set a plan in place, and worked harder than anyone around me to watch it all come together. It’s working days, nights and weekends. It’s answering emails round the clock. But it’s also finding that balance to live, enjoy life and cherish every moment with your family. Read more>>

It is interesting that this question is being asked, as this is the book I am writing right now. Legacy is so much more than what conventional thinking has assigned to that concept. I sincerely hope I will simply leave the world and the people in this world more thoughtful, self-aware, and generous. This is all anchored in unconditional love for all living beings. Read more>>

Stroke someone’s ego too much, you strip them of their humanity. I was a big part of that problem for far too long in the Hollywood landscape. As a Los Angeles based personal shopper and fashion stylist, I was extremely good at acquiring overstock for celebrity gifting. Read more>>

Many people hope to be “the best” at what they do. I get it, being the best at something comes with all sorts of recognition and usually lots of success which for business translates to wealth. However, I have no desire to be the best at what I do. I believe success should be a byproduct, a happy coincidence of my career, not the overall goal. Most of the time when being the best is our main focus its because our ego is too wrapped up in what we are doing. We’ve forgotten that it’s about more than just ourselves. Instead I strive to be the most impactful. I want to change the hearts of those around me for the better. I want to leave a legacy of love, and compassion, and fearlessness unlike anyone has ever seen. Do I still strive to be successful? To create time freedom and generational wealth of some sort for my four children… Of course I do! I just don’t believe that it has to be one or the other. Read more>>

I’ve actually been thinking about this a lot lately. Maybe it’s the looming 4-0, maybe it’s the approaching 10 year anniversary of trying to make this “business owner’ thing work, maybe it’s 3.5 years of infertility… maybe it’s a combination of all of those things. Read more>>

I chose this question because it was only later in my life when leaving the corporate life, that I found my sense of purpose. I never realized how much envisioning my legacy would help me design the second chapter of my life, and be the founding pillar in designing a business in alignment with who I truly was. Read more>>

As a Creative Leader, I hope every Creative I’ve ever poured into felt stretched, seen, and valued. I hope they remember my advocacy for their peace and my commitment to their greatness. I I hope my projects felt like advocacy for unseen groups, a proud display of urban tales, and a mirror to the blind spots that would bridge people groups together. I hope everyone remembers how passionate I am about my work but how my wife and kids will always come before it all. Read more>>
