Internships and apprenticeships, when done right, give interns and apprentices life long lessons. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, these opportunities aren’t accessible to many and so we wanted to invite folks who have had these experiences to share some of the lessons they’ve learned.

I started my first internship for school/becoming a therapist a little over a year ago. I remember being so nervous and worried that I was going to be horrible. I have anxiety and issues with public speaking sometimes so it felt intimidating to do group therapy. It was difficult at first but eventually it felt so natural to me. While I finishing up some music courses at community college, I got an internship at a boutique studio in Hollywood. Treehouse studios was the name. The guy that ran it also ran a VW bus rental. I worked there for about 3 months, 2 days a week. I was doing all kinds of things. cleaning the studio for the next session, washing the buses, organizing things, running to the grocery store, filling out ads for the studio.
