Internships and apprenticeships, when done right, give interns and apprentices life long lessons. Unfortunately, for a variety of reasons, these opportunities aren’t accessible to many and so we wanted to invite folks who have had these experiences to share some of the lessons they’ve learned.

I worked full-time as a Staff Development Manager during the beginning of my graduate school journey. I had the opportunity to attend numerous trainings and one of those trainings was focused on trauma and the trainer was a woman named Mary Vicario. I sat in that training, with probably 200 other folks, and for the first time in my life I pointed to a person and said to myself, “That’s what I want to do.” What was that you ask? During my last year of massage school, I was one of 20 Student Therapists selected to intern for an NFL team. I wasn’t very confident of my skills at the onset of my career as I felt my pressure was not consistently strong. This made me uneasy so on the way to the training facility, I had a pep talk with myself and reminded myself to “bring it”. I first got into entertainment under two friends of mine that invested into nightclub ownership.
