In our view there is already a ton of coverage of the trends that ivory tower professors and billionaire fund managers are seeing. What’s the edge in hearing the billionaire consensus view over and over again?
The edge comes from hearing new perspectives and new information like from the wedding planner who has worked with hundreds of couples during the pandemic and has noticed that couples are allocating significantly more of their wedding budgets on “small details” like personalized neon signs and eco-friendly customized digital invitations rather than paper invites. Or the accountant seeing how there’s a huge uptick in ecommerce clients generating revenue from in person popups.
Below, you’ll find some of the most thoughtful entrepreneurs and creatives in across various industries and markets sharing the trends they are seeing.

The first-ever TV commercial in the United States aired on July 1, 1941 on WNBC in New York. Bulova Watches was the advertiser and the spot lasted just over a minute. Of course, there were very few people who owned TV sets in the ’40’s. In fact by 1946 there were only 8,000 TVs but by 1960 that number grew to 45.7 million! The Golden Era of TV advertising was born and would grow to become a multi-billion dollar industry creatinging thousands of production, creative, media, sales and agency roles necessary to support the phenomena of video advertising. In 2017, TV ad revenue peaked in the U.S. at around $70 billion and has hit a plateau of around $64 billion for the past few years. Read more>>

The beauty industry is constantly evolving with new trends, from hero ingredients to standout products. Recently, Cannabidiol (CBD) has gained significant attention. Dare I say, Super 8 Film is my favorite format and possibly one of the most popular styles right now for capturing your Wedding day! Due to it’s nostalgic and vintage charm, the grainy and imperfect quality of Super 8 film can enhance the emotional depth of the footage. It often feels more personal and raw, capturing the essence of moments in a way that feels authentic and heartfelt. Super 8 film is a perfect add-on for couples looking to create a unique keepsake! In the vegan vending world, I find that most businesses are suffering because most Americans are afraid to try vegan food. The vegan community is growing but not as fast as we think. The challenge is trying to cater to both vegans and non vegans alike. The problem I’m seeing is that these businesses are either closing down or starting to put animal products on their menu to stay afloat. It’s heart breaking to see business go through this rough patch because I want to see more vegan business win. In my opinion, I believe the solution is to not advertise that you’re vegan and to make damn good food. Read more>>

There are three main trends I have noticed in the non-profit space. Nonprofits frequently grapple with unstable income and budgeting issues due to the unpredictable nature of donations and funding streams, which complicates long-term planning and resource allocation. This financial instability often forces them to prioritize administrative costs over mission-critical projects, operating on tight budgets and seeking ways to bridge funding gaps. Additionally, there is increasing pressure to demonstrate measurable impact, requiring sophisticated tracking and reporting systems. This shift adds to the administrative burden, necessitating investment in data collection and analysis to prove effectiveness and justify funding, which can divert resources from direct services. Furthermore, the digital transformation presents both challenges and opportunities. While modern technology is essential for improving efficiency and data management, many nonprofits struggle with outdated systems and lack the necessary infrastructure. Transitioning to digital solutions like cloud-based applications is crucial for streamlining operations and enhancing engagement with donors and beneficiaries, but it demands significant investment and change management. One of the biggest trends in the video editing industry is the massive consolidation of media companies, which has had a profound impact on many blue-collar film professionals. This consolidation has resulted in fewer, larger players dominating the market, leading to widespread job losses and increased competition for the positions that remain. However, this trend also presents unique opportunities for those who can identify and fill specialized niches within the industry. Read more>>

One of the biggest trends in the music industry is the enormous growth of Independent Artists and their ability to connect with an audience on their own rather than having to sign with a record label. There are many examples of this over the last several years including Chance The Rapper, Bad Bunny, and Laufey, just to name a few. It has completely democratized the music industry in that it has put the power back into artists hands in a way that they have never had before. As such, what is required of an artist to build a career today – especially in the early stages is a level of enormous commitment and a work ethic that will truly separate the artists who will from the artists who won’t have a career. As the founder of TheBrandedRooster, I see significant shifts in the branding and design industry over the next 5-10 years. One of the biggest changes is the rise of AI, which is leveling the playing field by providing everyone with a basic level of design competence. AI tools are making it easier for people to create logos, websites, and marketing materials, but this also means that standing out will become increasingly challenging. Read more>>

The publishing industry is rapidly changing from the older models of “write a book, get an agent who sells your book to one of the Big Four in New York and the money rolls in”, supposedly, to a great many authors choosing to go with a smaller indie publisher, or self-publish themselves. Some even go with a vanity publisher, which charges the author to publish their book, sometimes as high as $10,000 or more, in my opinion the worst possible choice an author can make. Making the right choice for themselves can be tricky, and all are fraught with frustration and sometimes disaster, whether it’s in the form of losing a lot of money or not successfully selling their work. One of the biggest trends in my industry, just like in many others, is the rise of DIY TikTok videos. While there’s nothing wrong with doing it yourself, when it comes to cleaning, this can actually be harmful. Many influencers are sharing their cleaning “sauces,” which are mixes of different cleaning agents that are often not meant to be combined. They might also use the wrong products for cleaning, such as using fabric softener to remove dust. Read more>>
